The candidate I voted for in the mock election (admittedly purely on strength of party name) apparently has no banner.

You voted for  Gloria LaRiva?

I'm undecided. I'm not sure if I should write-in Ron Paul, write-in Charles Jay, vote for Barr, vote for Baldwin, or abstain entirely.

Undecided, though not McCain, Obama, or Baldwin. And according to Dave only McKinney, Barr, and Nader are competing for ballot access in PA. Good chance I abstain completely from federal races this year.

I'll be voting for McCain, but it's not like my vote will really impact anything, so who cares.

Obama.. though I am having doubts.

But doubts are good.. it will just challenge me to justify my vote for Obama to myself.

Same here.  Although, it is possible that these doubts could force my ballot pen to mark John McCain.

You use pens to vote in Oklahoma? Or was that metaphorical?

Not nearly as much of a wasted vote as a vote for someone I don't believe in.  If I vote for McCain or Obama it means I am for sale to the Republican and Democratic Parties.  I vote for me, no one else.  My principles and beliefs are represented by that vote.  That is not a waste.

Interesting that your principles are represented by someones whose gigagntic shift between his run for Gov & Pres showed he has no principles....

I've decided to vote for McCain after all.  I will not be happy about it, but I weighed all my options and feelings, blah blah blah.  My dissent means more from within the Republican Party, and I won't let it be taken by the religious right and populism.  That being said, except in the most extreme cases (such as if we nominated Huckabee), I will be supportive of my party.  Blegh...

Welcome back! This is a great day for the Republican party!

Well I agree with everything your saying, it's basically what I've relegated myself to over the years. It's Republicans like you and me who keep the religious right and their associated element, big-government Conservatism, at bay and keep them from overwhelming the party of small government.

I have to agree to that I will support the party except in extreme cases, such as the nomination of Huckabee or a more general shift towards the populism or Christian Democracy. I disagree with you about Mitt but I do agree that he had some positives, one being he actually knew what the hell he was talking about when it came to economics. I would have voted for Massachusetts Governor Mitt but not the Presidential Candidate he turned himself into in order to do better in a party that has been held hostage by the religious right and social conservatives.

Sorry to hear this.

If you vote for McCain, you'll have NO voice of dissent.

McCain will assume that you approve of his charactierization of pharmaceutical companies as "bad guys."

He'll assume that you will approve of the massive tax increase he would implement if he were to get elected.

If you were to vote for Barr, it would be a vote for less government.  Slightly less likely than McCain to get elected, but far less dangerous.
