GUN-SEIZURE LAWSUIT

An outspoken Long Island gun owner's home was raided by Nassau County detectives, who seized two dozen weapons he lawfully owns just one day after Rep. Carolyn McCarthy's office made a 911 call about him.

Freeport resident Gabriel Razzano claims he was targeted in the spring raid for his "unpopular" political beliefs.

He's now filed a $5 million federal lawsuit against the Nassau PD and McCarthy, charging they joined forces to strip him of his guns unconstitutionally.

The case pits Razzano against McCarthy, the most outspoken gun-control advocate in Congress. A crazed gunman murdered her husband in the infamous 1993 Long Island Rail Road Massacre.

The flap arose on March 19, when Razzano visited McCarthy's Garden City office to discuss an article about an illegal immigrant who was deported but was later nabbed in Freeport for the attempted murder of a cop.

"The office staff felt that Razzano's behavior was disruptive and threatening," said Lt. Kevin Smith, a police spokesman.

Razzano's home was raided the next morning.

Ok, so the article goes from Razzano visiting McCarthy to "Razzano's behavior was disruptive and threatening."  Sounds like a whole paragraph is missing there to explain what happened.

Please, the NRA compromises to much.  If I'm going to give somebody money it will be the Gun Owners of America.

I'm an NRA member who is really pissed with them.

Got a phony "questionaire" in the mail stooging for McCain.

They'll get no money for their campaign from me this year!

BTW, I'm letting Sandy know what I think of the stooging for McCain.

Both Obama and McCain are avoiding the issue.

Now, Bob Barr is a member of the Board at the NRA.

Very good Congresswoman from the district next door, would much rather have her than the stooge that represents me.  The guy has wrote McCarthy 15 letters in the last few years.  Who knows what was in the letters, if he made any threats, etc.

The Congresswoman felt the guy was rude in her office, and somehow managed to get the cops to raid the rude guy's home eh? Pretty disturbing isn't it?

Yeah. When I worked in a Congressional office, all the staffers knew how to handle the "crazies." We'd listen carefully to their diatribes about "black helicopters" and "government subterfuge," take notes, assure them that we cared, and then we'd say that the Congressman would "look into the matter." One guy insisted on a full exposition of the "government-run alien/human hybridization program at Area 51." As usual, I and other staffers assured this paranoid fellow that the Congressman was looking into the issue.

"With guns" should have nothing to do with whether or not they decided to raid his home. I wonder if they took anything else.

Yet you said earlier:

Who knows what was in the letters, if he made any threats, etc.

So what piece of information did you receive in between those two posts that makes you jump from not knowing whether he made threats or not to knowing for a fact that he did make threats?

Now don't get me wrong - if he did make threats and McCarthy's office could provided credible evidence to the police to prove it then I say the seizure was warranted. However, from what we can see in this article this guy might just be one of those people who get really bitchy about illegal aliens but isn't about to go on a rampage about it.

Another look at one of the articles which mentioned he was threatening.

In the one you linked, it doesn't say it. In the one Bono linked, one guy says he was but no evidence is offered.

Yeah, as I mentioned earlier, there is a whole paragraph to this story that's missing.  What is it that he said which made her feel threatened and required the need to have his weapons removed?

Its something we will probably find out sooner or later.  BTW from the article it seems like it was a staff member that contacted police, not McCarthy herself.

If he made no threats, she should go to jail for abusing her power.  Can we all be in agreement there at least?
