I tell you. I go on holiday and come back and the first idea has stalled Roll Eyes I'm only kidding Tongue

So what else is there?

My despression era America idea was too complicated. I also thought about two games in one involving the US and Confederate governments. But alas these things are too complicated.

So why not a free for all!

An historical free-for-all?

I give you

The Rump Parliament

Fluid factions, a de-throned king we don't know what to do with, Puritan radicals v conservative landed gentry (and everything in between) and some American colonies to expand and exploit? Basically all you have to do is shout and argue. And what else are we good at Smiley

My Nan's family came from Gloucestershire, though they moved to South Wales at the end of the 19th century. Mind you, 'tis possible that the paternal branch weren't even in England at the time of the Revolution. But the maternal branch was from the Forest of Dean so...

What's the closest area with representation in Parliament to Rhayader?  Evidently my dad's mom's side is, er, rather strongly rooted (maps are even more fun) in said town.  Hereford[shire]?

Rhayader was actually in a borough constituency; New Radnor Boroughs (made up of New Radnor, Knucklas, Knighton, Rhayader and Cefnllys). The areas in Radnor outside New Radnor Boroughs were in the county constituency of Radnorshire.

Also bear in mind Scotland was not represented in the Parliament, being to all intents an independent kingdom until after the Tender of Union in 1652. This was repealed after the Restoration.

I would probably play an English born son of a Scots landowning family given some land in England after 1603. While in real life I find myself siding with the Royalists (and probably in this scenario) well...needs must and all that. I would be the old guard so to speak Smiley
