Based on anything in particular, or just romanticism it ought to be?

Based on anything in particular, or just romanticism it ought to be?

That is mostly Romanticism. I do believe we’ve been there, but the first time, in 1969 in the midst of a cold war?  I just don’t buy it. The funny thing is, a prominent conspiracy theorist cornered I think Buzz Aldrin and asked him why he faked the moon landing,  and Buzz punched him. I would have supported Buzz, regardless. Even if he’s a liar there’s no excuse to harass a person considered a national hero in public, and I believe if it was fake it was something we had to do to oneup the Soviets. Also, the fact that so many Apollo personal died before the mission makes me wonder.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Moon_Landing_Hoax#Deaths_of_key_Apollo_personnel

I know it’s Wikipedia, but all those people were involved in the space program in someway, and all died mysteriously. I’m beginning to sound like one of those people who say Clinton had all these people killed off, but it makes me wonder. I don’t believe in coincidences.

I do firmly believe JFK was killed though. I’ve heard the tape E. Howard Hunt made on his death bed saying he and some others were hired by LBJ to take JFK out. Hunt's son recorded this, and I‘ve only heard it on Coast to Coast AM, a popular radio show. My question is, why did the media not touch this at all? Sure, Hunt was a crook, but he was also on his death bed. His claims should have at least been examined in some detail, in my view.

EDIT: Not Liddy. Hunt. Sorry, about that.

I was wondering how long it would take for Coast to Coast AM to enter into the conversation.

That's not to denigrate your polite and thorough answers, which I appreciate.  I do think it's a good idea to get that voice checked out, though.  I hope it's a point of bipartisan agreement.

I’m not saying all or even anything I believe is true. But I think people like me need to believe in some grand overarching conspiracy. It makes the world more interesting. Really who doesn’t sort of wish  that there was a group of 12 people who decided every single thing that happened in the world? We could place all the blame for the wars, famines, genocides and the like  on the “elites” rather then just plain old human nature.  And I think a healthy distrust of the government never did any harm to anyone. The key word there is “healthy”.

And once again, thanks for the concern. I seriously am appreciative. When I go back to college I just might do that. I never thought it was a problem because I knew it was not real, but I do get browbeated a lot by it, which is not fun. I told my mom about it when I was like 17, but she told me it was just my conscience. Now that I’m old enough I guess I’d like to see if it is in fact abnormal and deal with it.

Anyway, sorry for my attention whoredom tonight, LOL. I'll try to tune it down a little bit for awhile.

Apparently, I'm narcissitic and histrionic too.  I guess politics just attracts that kind of person.

Hmm... I had lower results than I thought I would.  Honestly, if you aren't at least moderate in one of these categories, there is something wrong with you.  All humans have at least some psychological needs.

How the hell am I "moderate" on anti-social? I basically love everyone I've ever met and can't stand being alone for more than 24 hours. Whatever; I guess this online test is clearly of an authoritative nature.

I never thought it was a problem because I knew it was not real,

I'm not sure what you mean by "believe," since you turn around and say you know it's not real.  "Really really want to believe"?  That would fit with the romantic ideal, but if you're missing calls on account of it, it still sounds like a problem.

Anyway, sorry for my attention whoredom tonight, LOL. I'll try to tune it down a little bit for awhile.

I don't think saying you may have a problem qualifies for attention whoredom.  I hope you do see about it at school and let us know what you find out if you're comfortable with that.  Good luck.

It is funny to be 'histrionic' even though I'm a very low-key person.

I don’t think so. Your only insane if you think the thing’s realistic. I don’t really think my phones being tapped are realistic, but I still believe it. I believe everyone’s phones are tapped, and the government has a way of recording every conversation, but they don’t listen to them, usually. But, if you say a word like “president” or “kill” they start to actively listen to the call. I don’t believe there actively listing to me, but the thought that they could makes me avoid phones when I can.
You are the giving the govt WAY to much credit buddy.  While what you are saying is technically possible, it would be stupidly hard to accomplish and there is no way in hell they could do it "under the radar".  The hardcore freedom loving types go apesh**t every time they (the govt) ask a telco for records of who people called and what websites they went to, but you think they've convinced every phone service company, land and mobile, in the country to let the Feds hook up to their "main line" or something?  The govt is NOT monitoring every phone call (or internet post, email, etc) made in the US..  It's simply not possible.

(now, they are of course monitoring many (most? all? a few? I don't really know.) international calls coming to or leaving here and any individual may be being "watched" by Big Brother or whatever for less than legal reasons, but not everybody at the same time.  It's just to big and the govt to incompetent.)

The government can and has monitored cell phones to bust drug dealers. Pretty much every cell phone that exists today can be used as a reversed bug. The Schnitt show talked about this one time. Their is a key combination (can't remember what it is off hand) that you can punch in on your phone and it will show you a code, that code CAN be used by the police/fbi/phone company to turn your phone into a bug or use the camera phone option as a viewing device. The only way to prevent your phone from being used in this manner is to take the battery out of the phone. Turning it off isn't good enough.
