G'day all youse Australians,

We now have a reasonable presence on the forum, which is, for me, very unusual. To celebrate this, why don't we have a meeting? Canberra seems the most practical, because it is the only place with more than 1 forumnite, and it's reasonably accessible, so I suggest either the US embassy or the war memorial as a meetup spot, and Saturday October 25 as the date. We should go to Parliament, the US Embassy (and maybe a few others), the War Memorial, Old Parliament House and maybe the High Court, and between the Canberranbs on here we might be able to organise accommodation.

So, who is interested?

Smid: I'm also a Melburnian 4 months of the year, but Canberra's closer to Sydney, and stuff...plus it's just more appropriate Wink

tik: Well, Canberra is a sh*thole, but October is a nice time to come, and people really do have to see the Captain Cook Memorial Water Jet at least once in their life. If you're ever in Canberra, send me a PM, anyway.

I realise it's a bit more central... well - central between Melbourne and Sydney was the reason they decided to turn a sheep paddock with a population of nil at Federation into the nation's capital... Besides, my fiancee's sister is coming over to Australia in under a month and I was figuring that it could provide an opportunity to do some sight-seeing there with her, while meeting up with you fellas. That said, perhaps we should do a Melbourne one some time, too.

Good idea Smiley

You Brits are spread much farther apart, though.

Why would we go all the way to Windsor?

How many members do we have in Detroit? It would make more sense to have it in Ottawa or Montreal or Toronto.

Smid: I was thinking maybe the day after the territory election u7p here, which I think it the 13th of October, would be pretty good; we could go to the tally room the night before and then sightsee the next day. I think Parliament would be in session, too.

I once had a dream about how epic a complete Atlas meet-up would be.
