Any good he did is cancelled out by his disastrous handling of the Iraq War, so I lean towards negative.

Very, very negative.

He seems like the type that would punch his wife if she slapped him for being an ass.  His bad personality just made his bad policy ideas even worse.

HP. The biggest HP of the GW Bush era, and that is quite an accomplishment.

I still like to include wiki links for each poll, if I remember to.

Totally incompetent in his highest position.  Probably the worst SecDef ever (and that's saying something).  I hope he's watching Generation Kill and that he cries himself to sleep at night thinking about all the young men that have died because of his ignorance.

Well said.  Except you know he's not.  He's just counting his money.

I just can't decide if Rumsfeld, Cheney or Bush is the most vile.

What's funny (but really not), JS, is that pre-Bush 43, Cheney was actually held in rather high regard during Bush 41's term, and Rummy really wasn't on anyone's hate list either.  Go figure.

James Carville put it best -- Ronald Dumsfeld.

He is probably the worst of the Bush administration, along with Alberto Gonzalez.  I personally like Bush and Cheney, I just don't care for the administration that much, although I'm convinced that its not the worst administration in American history.

Cheney was always on mine because of his extremist congressional votes.  But, you're right.  Both he and Rumsfeld had a certain cachet with voters on military and foreign policy issues.  I think our amazing and swift victory in the first Gulf War persuaded them we could win all our wars quickly and relatively inexpensively.

The question is, when Colin Powell, James Baker and some others spoke up -- why didn't they listen?

They usurped 43's power by then, and power does strange things to people, especially 2 guys on the edge like Cheney & Rummy.

No war America fights is going to be cheap, at least if we're doing it the right (safe) way.  We still kicked the ass again, but it was because of the competency of the men in the field and in spite of the incompetency of the men in DC (and to a slightly lesser extent, at the Pentagon).

From France:

Bush, Cheney, Rumsfled:

The trio who gave an awful image of the US here and I think far beyond.

The trio who transformed some resentments against US in some sort of hate against US in lot of places around the world. I would say that their comportments allowed this kind of hate to appear for a lot of peoples around the world.

I see Cheney as the darkest. Rumsfeld as the most cynic and Bush, euh, I would say, the most fool...

Pretty much. Supporting Bush in 2000 & 2004 is not a mistake I intend to make again anytime soon. I support McCain simply because my extreme cynicism does not allow me to consider supporting Obama. That could change though. Wink

Wow, I know exactly how you feel. I supported Bush in 2000 and 2004, but I was a major Right Wing conservative then. Now that I'm not one anymore I can see the mistakes I've made. I still can't stand Gore or Kerry, so I'm not ashamed of my choices.

But I'm supporting Obama because I see McCain as just another neocon, bought by big business, and only knows how to treat the military like garbage.

I fear that about McCain just like I fear Obama would turn out to be another Carter. However, if McCain picks someone like Romney as his running mate, then I'll have no choice but to support Obama.
