The race to replace popular Democratic Governor Brad Henry of Oklahoma in 2010 is already heating up, still 26 1/2 months before Election Day 2010.

http://www.kfor.com/Global/story.asp?S=8841180&nav=menu99_2_6

According to the Tulsa World, long-time Democratic Atty General Drew Edmonson is "leaning more and more" toward running for governor.  He has already raised $300,000 for re-election to the AG post, but that money could be transferred to a Gubernatorial race.

Other Democratic contenders are possibly Lt Governor Jari Askins who was elected in 2006 and State Treasurer Scott Meachem.

Republican Congresswoman and former Lt Governor Mary Fallin has been mentioned as a possible candidate.  Fallin was Lt Governor for 12 years under the entire Frank Keating and the first half of the Henry administrations.

Brad Henry cannot run again due to term limits.

Dan Boren would be a good president, and already has the name recognition thanks to his father, David.  However, I don't think he wants to give up a safe House seat, and if he did it MIGHT be for Senate in 2010, though place a bunch of emphasis on MIGHT.

Can't we just let Oklahoma secede and call itself "The Christian Republican of Oklahoma"?  You could have President Jim Inhofe, Minister of Health Tom Coburn, I am sure JC Watts and Oral Roberts could fit in somewhere.

Then, all the theocrats from other states could move there and make it the Christian paradise they dream of.  Well, the Islamic theocrats might be a little uncomfortable.  But they can hop the next plane to Riyadh.

Oklahoma isn' that crazy. They only send crazy people to DC to mess with the rest of us. All of their state offices are filled by Democrats.
