In 10 years it will be center - left  maybe even only 5 years.


To the question:  Right now I would say the democrats as the 365EV victory showed. McCains only strong vote came from mostly 65+ white evangelical voters- in the south.   Go figure.

if it is center-right at all, it's only because of social issues. The latest election showed that the Democrats are getting the preponderance of moderate voters, at least for the moment.

I have to agree, America is only Center-Right due to Social Issues. I am a good example of that.

The anti-dictatorial side of me (inherited from parents who lived in Maoist China) finds this scary.

Why?

Because Obama is an authoritarian.  He clears the playing field, eliminates his opposition so they can't even compete.  This is how he won his state senate seat.  This is why he chose Hillary for Sec of State (to prevent her from running a primary against him in 2012).  I wouldn't put it past him to suspend the 2012 election for whatever reason and attempt to become president for life.
