Six years later, I wonder what would happen if Obama picked then-Virginia Gov. Tim Kaine.
Maybe Obama would have done a point or two better in Virginia, but that's about it.

One big difference right now, is that Kaine as the incumbent VP considerably younger then Biden would probably be laying the groundwork for a presidential bid in 2016. If Hillary was still appointed Secretary of State i'm sure that she'd be talked about also but the party would be divided more between the two of them and she'd be less of a clear frontrunner.
