Today in 1901 President William McKinley was shot by anarchist Leon Czolgos in the Temple of Music at the Grand Colombian Exposition. Here are some curious facts about the assanation:
1. The Secret Service has set up plants and flags behind the president so he could not be shot from behind as Lincoln and Garfield had been. Czolgos shot McKinley from the front, making McKinley the only president to be assinated from the front.
2. Czolgos fired 3 shots from a revolver hidden in his hand under a cast.
3. President McKinley has given his lucky carnation that he always wore in his coat's lapel to a little girl the second before he was shot. I guess McKinley taught us no to temp fate.
4. President McKinley told his guards not to harm his assasin.
5. A new invention, the X-Ray, was on show at the Grand Colombian Exposition on September 6, 1901. No one thought to use it to find the bullet in McKinley.
6. President McKinley was the first president to be transported on an automobile Ambulance. An Ambulance ran on electricity was on display at the Grand Colombian Exposition and they chose to use that to transport the president.
7. On September 2, 1901, Czolgos bought the revolver he would shoot McKinley with. Also on that day Vice President Theodore Roosevelt said his famous saying, "Speak softyly and carry a big stick," for the first time in a speech in North Carolina.

Ah, McKinley. He was a good President. Though I probably would've voted for The Great Commoner, I still liked him.

I think McKinley is the greatest U.S. President.

Herbert Hoover is my favorite president, but I can't say he was our greatest.

I always thought he was shot in the back of the head.

Buffalo, a fine city. My mother sent me a text message today reminding me of this event. It was 80 degrees at the Buff State campus today.
Should get a little colder in a couple months, lol.
DID YOU KNOW:
Rick James is buried at the park across from my campus, LOL. Another fine American.

I'm sorry but it is a violation of the Rick James ammendment to the Musical Speech Act of 1958 to mention Rick James in any communication with out referring to someone as "bitch".
Please edit your post. Bitch.
