I'm willing to bet that Republican posters here are less likely to identify with the religious right than Republicans in Congress are.

Does anybody have any numbers of the percentage of Americans who identify with the religious right?

Not really. I base my beliefs on logical reason, and I believe in religion through logical reason. I keep the two together, but I don't justify my politics on religion.

Republican, for the moment - until the Religious Right drives me to reluctantly vote Democrat.

There are issues on which I agree largely with the "religious right," but not because of religion or spirituality.

For example, I think it is obvious abortion is morally wrong... to the point where I don't even see a point in really debating it. But I don't think that's because of God or Jesus or the Bible.

It's also intellectually dishonest to separate 'religions' based on God and those based on other ideals. Communism is a 'religion' in many ways, as it requires you to believe much more outlandish things than Christianity does.

When you understand religion as a binding cultural force based on a set of principles, you can relate it to other movements and associations.

Religion of God in government does not worry me as much as Religion of Government in government.

Yes I identify with the religious right. I even briefly joined the Constitution party in 2003 but broke with them over the death penalty (they supported it, I was against it)

Nope, and never will be.

Btw, do the polls of religious right members break it down by age?
