Uhh... I haven't had much access to the "net" today. So what, if anything, has happened to kill Romney's chances?

and the plot thickens yet some more:

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Sarah_Palin

read the last sentence of the first paragraph.

(I had no hand in this edit of wikipedia)

late edit:  someone reedited the page and the last sentence is no longer there

Someone named Lobbynoise made that edit. The same minute you posted, someone (not I) removed it.

Lobbynoise?  sounds political, doesn't it?  I wonder if someone associated to the McCain camp is monitoring her wiki page?  Now I'm going too far, that would seem extreme!

From their contribution history, they seem mainly interested in Teaching English as a second language, although they have also edited wiki pages for the King of Thailand and the British intelligence agency.

that's pretty impressive.  what do you think? think Lobbynoise is connected with McCain?

No evidence either way.

I kind of want it to be Palin now (if it isn't Pawlenty) just so jmfcst can go crazy in a positive way for once.  Wink

Palin is kind of hot, so I could support that pick.

I kind of want to say the same but the experience thing is an issue. Then again, Romney really isn't better with experience and I wouldn't prefer him anyway based on his general horrible-ness. Lieberman is too big of a risk. Ridge is...ehhh.

U.S. Rep. Rodney Alexander said Thursday he has no inside information on U.S. Sen. John McCain's choice for a running mate, but he believes the presumptive Republican nominee might do the unexpected.

"I don't have any idea, but my gut feeling says it could be (Alaska Gov. Sarah Palin)," said Alexander, R-Quitman, who spoke during a Monroe Rotary Club luncheon at the Civic Center.

Palin had been mentioned as a possibility earlier this summer but hasn't been on most short lists lately. The top three contenders reportedly are Minnesota Gov. Tim Pawlenty, former Massachusetts Gov. Mitt Romney and Democrat-turned-independent U.S. Sen. Joe Lieberman.

"She would give the ticket diversity and youth," Alexander said. Palin is 44.

I'm not convinced it's Palin, but it's suddenly starting to look like it.

I can't find a picture of the lear jet that flew from AK to AZ, spent the night in Flagstaff, before flying to Middletown OH.

Good to know...

So much for calling Obama the token candidate, eh?

Note: I don't actually think it's going to Palin even now. This smells like the whole Chet Edwards affair to me again...

For what it's worth:

CNN's Dana Bash is in Dayton - a source said that there still might be the possibility of a "transformational" dark horse candidate.

I'm still undecided about which between Romney and Pawlenty would be better for us.

I just woke up and logged in and this can not be happening. Not because I fear Palin, but because it's just so wrong. So wrong.

Here's the Pawlenty story:

"All I can say is that I’m not going to be there (in Dayton)." However, he didn’t say directly that he is not the the nominee.

"I plan to be at the State Fair," he said. "You can draw your conclusions from that."

http://www.startribune.com/politics/state/27640824.html

Edit:  BTW, the article has this in the middle:

"CNN is reporting that a plane left from Anchorage, AK., carrying Gov. Sarah Palin landed in Dayton last night leading to speculation that she is the pick."

Edit #2 (8:15am): see my post below - The Star Tribune article might have jumped to an early conclusion because I don't think that I ever saw that CNN confirmed that she was on the flight.  Fox News has not yet confirmed it either.

Alaska is going to have a very proud day today.
Alaska loves having vice-presidential losing nominees?

CNN ran the banner text along the bottom of the screen about the Anchorage flight and they are talking about Palin now.  But, I can't recall that they ever specifically mentioned that they confirmed that Palin was on that flight.  However, I was flipping channels and might have missed that.

Fox News said that they do not know whether she was on the flight.

So, it might be possible that the Star Tribune (the article I linked above) jumped to an early conclusion about whether she was on the flight.

I don't think Palin would be the best choice for McCain but I would have a much easier time voting for McCain/Palin than I would McCain/Romney

If it is Palin then Obama is in some trouble with the few angry Clinton supports that are left.
