"The National Republican Senatorial Committee has canceled more than $2.3 million in television advertising time the committee had reserved in New Mexico, suggesting the party thinks it has little hope of retaining Sen. Pete Domenici's seat."

Good sign, though I obviously wish they's waste more money on a lost cause.

A vote for Pearce was a vote for Udall.

I always thought Pearce was the stronger candidate actually, just because he wasn't scandal-tainted. So this just shows that Udall had it in the bag from day one.

Look at it this way, as a better candidate than Madrid Udall would've certainly beat Wilson in her own district, would've obviously ran far ahead of the 53.5% Kerry got in his own district and I can't see how he'd run worse than Kerry against Wilson in Pearce's district. Hell he may be winning Pearce's district against Pearce with current numbers!

As soon as Udall jumped into the race, it was clear that he had won. Nice to see the NRSC finally caught on.
