Does anybody know the Census/government definition of a "rich individual" (school assignment)?

Census doesn't do that, AFAIK. They do classify by income level, though.

A census taker once tried to interview me.

I ate his liver with some fava beans and a nice quiante.

This is a truly asinine assignment. There is no such definition. It is a subjective term. However, I will give you my definition: 5 million in net worth excluding one's personal residence. Less than that, and you might still have to work for a living, and can't spend without wondering about the costs that you are incurring. You can quote me!  Tongue

The Saudi Census interviewed us in 2005, IIRC.

The Census puts out annual income data for the American Community Survey. The top tier uses income over $200 K for families and households, and earnings over $100 K for individuals. That's not "rich", but it is the highest category used in the Census. BTW, in 2007 4.0% of households had income in the top category, and 9.4% of individuals had earnings in the top category.
