According to Bayh Buchanan, the Obama campaign is dispatching a Sleaze Squad to Wasilla to dig up dirt on Palin.

Are there no depths to which the Obama campaign will not stoop?

Are they so afraid of this woman that they are willing to descend this way into the gutter?

Good...it keeps focus off of McCain.

Cause she's ridiculous that's why.

How is that a good thing for your side? When the focus is on Her surrounded by all these controversies [some real and some just rumors] and nothing about McCain who is actually running for president.

Who's the celebrity now?

Right, because the Republicans have never used Opposition Research or anything like that.

This is so sad.

Remember in June when this McCain-Obama campaign looked like promising new politics?  Then, McCain decided to fire his entire staff again and replace it with the good ol' boys ("[insert Democratic candidate here] IS LIBERAL TAX RAISING SCUM WHO EATS BABIES!!!") and now Obama has to launch some attacks back his way.

They haven't, Jesus gives them all of the sins the Democrats have done and they reveal them to the world by will of god. Roll Eyes

I never bought into that but yeah, pretty pathetic all around. That said it seems to be paying off for McCain. At least the last couple months.

You mean Gop appears to them in a DMT-induced vision that feels like it takes place over many years, but is done with in 20 minutes. DMT could rob you of your afterlife.  They better be careful, then again, I wouldn't want to have a afterlife if I was them. I don't want to judge, but...

I'll defend opposition research.  It's fine looking at the opponent's record.

If we get more of "Sarah Palin once farted," it's worthless.

There's really nothing wrong with Opo research. Why is your opponent's political/business/etc. record not fair game? As long as you don't delve into personal, private matters, it's fine.

Now that it has been brought to the attention of voters who normally are not aware of this as a standard operating procedure of all parties, they have no option but to come up with something to slime Palin with. They are going to find something then, as now they have no choice. If they don't, the assumption would be there is nothing there at all, thus improving her standing. If they try to spin a molehill into a mountain, they run the very real risk of it blowing up in their faces. If they try to invent something and it can be disproven.........................

Not specifically because of this. It's because the focus is seriously shifting and he needs to be the attack dog now. Barack Obama isn't going to win an election on attacks.

Fair enough, but to say that he's already lost the election is absurd.

Honest question:  Does this ever not happen?

I'm sure it happens with every candidate.  I think the only difference is that Palin caught the Democrats off guard, especially since the national media didn't run any real articles on her when she was first rumored to be in consideration back in the Spring.

And it's hard not to notice a team of people rummaging through the records at Wasilla's City Hall.

John Fund wrote about 30 people going there, Hannity vectored it and the McCain campaign echoed it with the wolf ad, but Obama denies it and says they've sent no one. Fund stands by what he wrote and promises to back it up tonight. However, so far, it's unproven, and you'd think people would know if they'd sent 30 people up to Alaska to dig up dirt.

If this Sleaze Squad arrives at Wasilla City Hall, city officials should say to them

Welcome to Wasilla.  I hope you had a good trip up here to Alaska.

Now, turn around, take your muck raking back to wherever it is you came from, and have a nice day.

Yes, they should obstruct the inspection of public records.

It's a time-honored Republican tradition.

Wasilla has no need for sleaze merchants.

They have no legitimate purpose to be in Wasilla, aside from distorting the truth and smearing Palin.

What else would one expect when these sleaze merchants are working for a Chicago Ward Healer and machine politician?
