I would politely request this confirmation hearing center around the merits of former President Wixted and his ability to serve in the position, and not the merits of MasterJedi, as the latter should not be relevant here.
There is no debate about the merits of former PPT Wixted, simply because everybody agrees that future President Wixted is amply able and qualified for the position.

Future?
I can see into the future.

Will you be President?
I will never make a serious run for the position again.

I think.

When have you?
A long time ago. Look it up. I thought you knew everything.

That was strange. I'd known about Al/Lewis, but not Lewis/TD.

Alright, I'm not going to vote against the nomination.  However, I am not going to vote for it.  I think Colin is more than qualified (in fact overly qualfied for a position where qualifications are unnecessary).  I still don't like the fact that MasterJedi is being replaced, I feel that if Moderate wanted to replace Jedi, he could have reached across the aisle again instead of appointing a fellow NLCer.  His administration has done a great job of working with everyone, but I fear that BrandonH may be out the door next.  For that reason I will be abstaining on this matter.

I'm sorry you feel that way, but I assure you that I have no plans on replacing Brandon as AG.  And before you cry partisanship, ColinW would actually be the first and only NLCer that I've nominated to anything during my tenure as President.

Besides, this isn't about keeping a cabinet seat in the hands of one party or another.  This is about finding the best person for the job, and I strongly feel that of the choices immediately available to me, Colin Wixted best fits the bill.

I suppose I should point out that when I was SoEA, the Department was sufficiently active to make it possible for me to resign on a point of principle. The office isn't really tied to the GM at all... it's also worth recalling that the positions merged to create SoEA were moribund long before the position of GM was.

Debate having halted for more than 24 hours (and the maximum 72 hours for these things being almost through anyhow) I call for a vote.

The vote is on confirmation.
Please vote aye, nay or abstain.

Aye.

Thank you to all those who supported me. I would have been on sooner but I've been both busy at college getting things situated and had some technical difficulties with the internet in my dorm room.

As for the inactivity of the office both Moderate and myself have worked out a tentative plan for my tenure in this office and I will begin this as soon as I possibly can.
