So? Medicare is far preferable to the system that was before it. So would this system.

Yeah, because money comes out of thin air and Medicare won't bankrupt our generation Roll Eyes

Yes, because money is more important than life and death.

So, you want our county to be in ruins due to tens of trillions of dollars in debt?

I support medical insurance for seniors, but Medicare is a terrible program and you can't change the fact that it will owe tens of trillions of dollars of debt by the time you and I are 65.

No country has ever been "in ruins" due to debt.

Billions of people have died of preventable diseases.

By "ruins", I was metaphorically describing the rapid economic decline. The unpaid obligations would be greater than the current GDP of the world.

Funny, that hasn't happened anywhere else.

Maybe it's because entitlement programs are pretty new from a historical perspective. Combine that with population growth and a high standard of living and you have trouble.

Jeez, think more than 10 years in the future for once.

I suppose subtlety is a lost art.

And, once again, you prove that you are unable to think beyond 10 years. Think about the long term.

Explain, as you seem to lack foresight. Long term the problem grows exponentially, even the most liberal on the forum would agree with that.

I support health care for seniors, but Medicare has to be killed.
