One of the more unusual uses of that particular image.  I've most often seen it with a NASCAR driver number as the target.

Judging by the look on his face, I doubt the guy holding the sheet music knows the score.

Must be a sock of Bob Dole since he refers to himself in the third person.  (I.e., "one's self" instead of "myself".)

Do I read correctly that yonder acquaintance here is unfamiliar with the formalities of "the Queen's English", instead mistaking one of its quirks for a concept as vulgar as illeism?  Tongue

I speak American, and to me "one" is distinctly a third person singular pronoun not a first person pronoun.  That's Brits as a group are daft enough to employ it as an affected first person is just more proof that you've been mucking up the language ever since we parted ways in 1783.  (Incidentally, American pronunciation is closer to what Shakespeare used than British pronunciation.)

Hey.  You do know that the English language more or less originated on this island you know, so by rights anything we Brits (especially the English) do with it is not construed as "mucking it up", ok?  Besides, it's the Americas who've been mucking up the language you'll find.  Spelling colour without a "u"?  Utter sacrilege!  How dare you people on the other side of the Atlantic think that you can tell us what to do with our* language!  It's just not cricketTongue

*And I am referring to the people of Britain, England especially, here.  Tongue

Well, prior to Johnson and Webster, both -or and -our could be found, so that divide is mainly due to their personal preferences.  As for cricket, judging by where the money is at, that's an Indian game these days instead of English.

(And since I have a new sig since this started, someone go ahead and comment on it.)

Dole was self-admittedly limp in the fruit department while Clinton always did have an eye out for a sexy Chiquita to share a banana with if you know what I mean.

A donkey holding a donkey who we can hope will be better than the jackass who dragged this out way past the point where the result was obvious

Part of Obama's problem on this issue politically has been that he hadn't been organized at all in how he's been approaching it.

It's a shame more people don't recognize the difference between a caduceus and the rod of Asclepius .  One is a symbol of medicine: , while the other is a symbol of theft, commerce, deception and death .  So is Obama making a subtle dig at American medicine or is he announcing his own intentions in the health care debate? Wink

SKIP (since I already commented on his sig earlier)
I like black rectangles as much as the next guy, but I don't see the difference/

For those with poor font support who refuse to follow links.

Caduceus: symbol of theft, commerce, deception and death

2 snakes and a pair of wings

Rod of Asclepius: symbol of medicine

1 snake, no wings

Why would an English doctor write a novel about The Military College of South Carolina?

SKIP since I've comment on Xahar's sig before.
I can't understand if it's a pro-Democratic cartoon or an anti-Democratic one, so to speak.
I take it as skewering both parties.  Unlike a lot of political cartoonists and comedians, Ariail doesn't really slant left or right.  He tries to slant funny for the most part, and will gladly barbecue the sacred cows of both sides if there is some humor to be found in it.

Here's a another example of his dual skewering:

He doesn't happen to live in Owings Mills, Maryland, does he?  (A place I recall fondly as being where Wall $treet Week and A.M. Weather came from.  You youngsters don't know what you missed by not seeing A.M. Weather, which was a 15-minute daily program only a weather geek could love.)
