After a new amendment, foreign born candidates are allowed to compete for the Presidency of the United States of America.

Arnold Schwarzenegger (R-CA) is the GOP nominee. He picks Mark Sanford (R-SC) as his running mate.

Jennifer Granholm (D-MI) is the Dem nominate. She picks Jim Webb (D-VA) as her running mate.

In a surprising election, a map a bit similar to 1916 ! (with Terminator as.... Woodrow Wilson !!)

294 - 244

Snif ! Arnie is beaten.... Maybe, I should have considered that Webb would have made many mistakes and Arnie would have won Missouri, TN, ND, WA, IA.

What do YOU think ?
Maps AND EVs welcome.

Unlikely that Schwarzenegger carries California. He's in some deep trouble at the moment.

And quite possibily for Governor Granholm in Michigan where from memory there are attempts to recall her.

A fine map, better than mine, even if I think Arnie wouldn't do well with blue-collars in Indiana, KY and WV and that Webb would be an asset in NC.

Actually, it's a pity Matt Groening doesn't post in that forum: he'd explain us how Arnie eventually won...

The Republican party would split due to Schwarzenegger's stance on abortion and gay marriage, and a prominent Christian Conservative political figure from the South would likely run on the newly formed "Family Values Party" ticket.  For fun we'll just assume that Haley Barbour is that prominent person, and he'll choose Newt Gingrich as his running mate.  So it wouldn't be just a two way race, it would be a race between Schwarzenegger/Sanford; Granholm/Webb; and Barbour/Gingrich.  The result would be a landslide victory for the Granholm/Webb ticket.  Here's the map:

Popular Vote
Granholm               45%
Schwarzenegger   31%
Barbour                 24%

Electoral Vote
Granholm              400
Schwarzenegger    89
Barbour                  49

Michigan would deliberately vote against Granholm.  She's a horrible governor.

Barbour couldn't win Utah. She was a tobacco lobbyist. Tobacco + LDS = Not good.

She also happens to be a man... which might help "her" gain the endorsement of some key male figures in Utah.

Just like they did in 2006?

In fairness, she was running against an inept corporatist. She isn't popular in the least from my understanding.
