Possibly the only time I have agreed with Blubb.  Jill, whom I consider a friend, has run a horrendous campaign.  She refuses to slam Daniels on the issue of jobs...at least, she's not slamming him hard enough.  He has been a monumental disaster on the job front.  And both Jill and the media are still allowing him to get away with his preposterous claim that he is creating new, good-paying jobs at a record pace.

Nothing could be further from the truth.  Indiana has one of the worst quality job creation rates in the country.  Almost daily, I am writing stories about layoffs, plant closings and so forth.  And Daniels?  He has a bevvy of reporters, photographers and microphones in front of him everytime he's there to cut the ribbon on a new Dollar General Store or Dunkin Donuts.

Remember when Dan Quayle said, in the 92 campaign, "Of course unemployment's not a problem.  There are jobs to be had everywhere.  Just down the street, Burger King had a sign out that said "HIRING:  ALL SHIFTS"."

That's the Mitch Daniels mantra.

Jill Long Thompson was an exceptional, outstanding Congresswoman.  And Indiana needs her.  Unfortunately, Hoosiers have seldom been particularly bright when it comes to making wise political choices.

Long Johnson has run an inept campaign.  This is probably going to turn out to be the Michigan of 2008.

Except DeVos led by, what, 15%?  I cannot at any time remember Long-Thompson ahead.

Right, the only explanation for her to lose is that everybody but you in Indiana is stupid.

Thompson, like Dick Zimmer in NJ, has more losses to her credit than any person should have to suffer.  And Thompson, like Zimmer, is all to eager to tack on another humiliating loss to the scorecard.

They need someone to save them from themselves.

Difference is, Indiana will vote for certain Democrats.  New Jersey will not vote for any Republicans.

Not at all.  It's just that a majority of Hoosiers are stupid.  The ones who vote for moronic mouth-breathers like Mark Souder. The district I live in could have had Jill Long Thompson stay in as Congresswoman.  But they chose Souder, whose only original piece of legislation since coming to D.C. has been to take "that Socialist Roosevelt" off the dime and replace him with Reagan.    But hey, it was 1994 and Souder said he loved Jesus -- so of course he won.

But then we had a chance to replace him with Democrats like Dr. Tom Hayhurst or Jay Rigdon.  Or we could have dumped him for a Republican like Paul Helmke or Mike Loomis.  So yeah -- these idiots who keep voting for an ignoramus like Souder are stupid.  The ones who will be dumb enough to vote for Mitch Daniels a second time maybe aren't stupid.  Just deceived.

Cause those Burger Kings mean new jobs and a revitalized economy.  Oh boy!

Its the ads that they have been running that have really allowed daniels to run away with it. Thompson have been weak and she just wont attack like you said above. His on the other hand have been pretty well done and sadly poignant. though i find it hillarous that he is now proposing to pay for the first two year of college using the lottery money. Atleast those foolish enough to waste money on the lottery might get something back form it.

But this is what i was afraid of happening if only peterson won in 07 we could have had a real contender with him. Means that will have to keep fighting him tooth and nail for proper funding down here at IU. Bright side when they do the redisticing they will probably eliminate Hill's seat(ive heard there gonna use 37 to put btown in the same distric as indy) we will have a top tier contender for the governorship.

Congratulations on a more genuinely ugly worldview than BRTD.

Nothing ugly about it.  It's just fact.

Look -- Democrats in Louisiana had every chance to elect someone reasonable, intelligent and NOT criminal -- either in the D primary or crossing over to vote R in the general.  Instead, they went with that crook, William Jefferson.  That's stupid, blind voting.

Just because Mark Souder doesn't have 80 thousand in cash in he's freezer doesn't mean he's a good choice.  And there were plenty of great Republican options.  Why didn't voters here go for them?  Because they are stupid and uninformed.  Because Souder has convinced these easily-led sheep that he is Jesus' candidate and he is going to save unborn fetuses and lower their taxes.

Simple as that.  Mark Souder doesn't have a tenth of the intellect of the Democrats OR Republicans who have run against him.  Yet he is continually re-elected, having done absolutely NOTHING in his 12 years in congress.
