March 26th, 1996: After attacks from Democrats, the Campaign Finance Reform Act would be challenged as being constitutionally sound as some Democrats and "Anti Perot" Republicans would say that they had been worried about the CFR act when it was passed as they believed some parts weren't constitutionally sound. This would evolve into some calls to repeal the act, mainly by Democrats and on the campaign trail campaign finance reform act would become a growing question.

March 26th, 1996: The three primaries for California, Nevada and Washington would be held and it would only solidify Gramm and Nunn's positions as frontrunners. Gramm and Nunn would both win California and Nevada as Nunn would fight off Moynihan for the win as Moynihan would pick up Washington in a bare minimun and this would show as the "Stop Nunn" campaign was beginning to see that Nunn was effectively the presumptive nominee. Buchanan would pick up Washington against Forbes and Gramm in a sizable 10% victory.

March 28th, 1996: President Perot and Vice President Stockdale would go on there "Run on Reform" campaign to gain more candidates for the Reform Coalition in the upcoming Congressional elections in 1996. This would prove successfull as they would convince several potentials to run like State Representative George D. Weber of Missouri to run against Republican Jim Talent, Peter Ueberroth would say that he would run for the 34th congressional district in California and this would bring in new blood into the Reform Coalition.

March 31st, 1996: After questions if Moynihan would drop out after his loss in the critical California Primary would continue and with the polls for the next primary in Pennsylvania showing Nunn winning, Daniel Moynihan would drop out from the race for the nomination saying that "America has seen sanity and justice and they want a Democrat to bring it to them".

April 3rd, 1996: Ambassador to Yugoslavia and former State Secretary Lawrence Eagleburger would die when his plane would experience difficulties and would go down on there flight to the capitol of Belgrade. Ambassador Eagleburger would be remembered for his talks that ended the waring in the west. President Perot would say that "The ambassador did his job well and he'll be missed", this would lead to several stops of flights by cabinet members and other officials as they would check the airplanes for any possible future shorts in them. This would lead to Energy Secretary Nader would bring up an old airplane issue to President Perot.

April 23rd, 1996: Pennsylvania would hold it's primary and the frontrunners Gramm and Nunn would win hands down. Gramm would continue to solidify his lead against Buchanan and Forbes as the two opposition candidates would continue to dwindle in support in the primaries as Gramm was the presumptive nominee.

May 7th, 1996: D.C., North Carolina and Indiana would hold primaries and it would only be more victories for Sam Nunn and Phil Gramm. After his dismal 4% in North Carolina and 9% in Indiana, Steve Forbes would decide to withdraw from the race for the Republican nomination.

May 9th, 1996: The Airline Protection Act of 1996 would pass through Congress as President Perot would work with his cabinet to craft the law. The Airline Protection Act would put more safety checks and such on airlines, Perot would sight "If I can stop accidents in the future and save lives, I've done my job".

May 10th, 1996: Steve Forbes would declare he would endorse Senator Phil Gramm for the Republican nomination, calling on all the other candidates to drop out and supporter Gramm for the nomination. Pat Buchanan would say that he would stay in all the way to the convention.

May 14th, 1996: Nebraska and West Virginia would cast it's vote for the frontrunners Sam Nunn of the Democrats and Phil Gramm of the Republicans. Pat Buchanan would continue with his insurgent campaign but was lucky to get around 20%-25% of the vote.

June 4th, 1996: Four primaries would be held to effectively finish the primary season for the Democrats and the Republicans. Nunn and Gramm would sweep Alabama, Montana, New Jersey and New Mexico with strong showings. Gramm would surprisingly win Montana with about 65% of the vote to Buchanan's 35%.

June 16th, 1996: The first round voting for the Russian Presidency would have incumbent Boris Yeltsin against the major grassroots supported Communist Party leader Gennady Zyuganov would do fairly well but with a huge monetary backing behind Yeltsin's campaign, this would whittle down Zyuganov's lead and would pull out a slight win of 34% to 33%.

July 3rd, 1996: The Second Round for the Russian Presidential Election would have a divided nation. With an ailing economy, a war in Chechnya and much more but with a strong campaign and picking up much needed endorsements was Yeltsin able to pull out a reelection against Gennady Zyuganov to a 50% to 43% victory.

July 12th, 1996: With the upcoming Republican Convention, Sam Nunn would announce his Vice President choice at a rally in Pennsylvania. The choice would be Senator Bob Kerrey of Nebraska and this would have been widely perceived as what would happen and Ross Perot and Gramm would begin to call this a "Devilish Bargin".

July 19th, 1996: The Summer Games of the 26th Olympiad would be opened in Atlanta, Georgia. President Ross Perot and several members of his cabinet would appear at the summer games along with other politicans around the world from the home countries attending. The 26th Olympiad would come as Interim President Perizeau would say that Quebec would compete in the next Olympics as they weren't ready for the summer games.

July 21st, 1996: The Republic of Quebec would suffer it's first major natural disaster as severe flooding would occur on the Saguenay River and it would be one of the worst in Quebec history. Quebecois Interim President Jacques Parizeau would call on quick relief and aid for the effected region. Quebec would also call on some international aid and Canada would give some aid along with neighboring US.

July 20th-25th, 1996: The Republican Convention would convene in San Diego, California becoming the first convention in southern California as the banners would call for a "Sail to Victory 96'". The presumptive and soon to be official nominee Phil Gramm would be nominated and would choose his vice president at the convention and a suprise choice would come from Governor Pete Wilson of California would be nominated as Gramm's VP.

July 27th, 1996: The "Centennial Bombing" would occur at the Atlanta games as Robert Rudolph would set off a bomb in Centennial Olympic Park. The attack of terrorism would kill two and injure 111 people, President Perot would call this "An act of evil" and that the terrorists would be tracked down to the fullest extent of the law.

August 18th-19th, 1996: The Reform Coalition would easily renominate Ross Perot  and nominate David Boren for Vice President in the symbolic St. Louis, Missouri where east and west meet. This would be a celebratory day as the Perot/Boren ticket would gain more momentum in polling as they led over the Democrats and the Republicans.

August 26th-29th, 1996: The Democratic Convention would be held in Chicago and it would be the first time since the tumultuous 1968 Convention. With Nunn on his way to be officially nominated, a "Draft Feingold" campaign sprang up and were able to put his name into the ballot for the nomination for the Democratic Party. Feingold himself had come to blows with the majority of the Democratic party after many said he was to close to President Perot and in there eyes, Feingold was a traitor and this would prove there point. Nunn and Kerrey would easily win the nominations against the "Choose Feingold" campaign and other perennial candidates.

September 5th, 1996: After his support from the "Choose Feingold" ballot at the Democratic Convention, Russ Feingold would announce that he would campaign for President Ross Perot for reelection. Feingold would sight that "Even with President Perot and I don't see eye to eye, I see him as a way to move America forward". This is seen as a continual split of the liberal and progressives from supporting the conservative Sam Nunn.

September 25th, 1996: The first presidential debate would be held in Washington University of St. Louis, Missouri. The debate would hold all three candidates from Nunn, Perot and Gramm and the issues would be majorly about issues inside the United States borders (terrorism, abortion, gun control, etc.) and would have a large tune in and viewers would see a show. When abortion was brought up Nunn would call it unjust and would bring up ideas of a amendment to the constitution banning abortion, Perot would quickly attack saying that "Women have the right to choose or has Washington messed you up that bad to see that!" this would rage until the moderator would bring order again. Polling would have Perot win the debate by a large margin as Nunn was trailing and Gramm was a distant third.

September 29th, 1996: The "Airline Armor" Act as it was called would be passed by a slim vote by Congress. Many called this a "fruitless idea" and "another way to spend" but the idea was at least noble, it would have the cockpits of airlines have there doors be armored in a sense that no one would be able to attack the pilots, the main ideas came from Energy Secretary Nader and President Perot after talks about strengthening the US about possible terrorist attacks in the future.

October 1st, 1996: On an interview with CNN, Democratic nominee Sam Nunn would stress that the US needs to be more internationalist and deal with the possible weapon caches in Iraq and the Kosovo War, Nunn said that "This nation needs to know what's going on in the world and not the protectionist way that President Perot has led up".

October 1st, 1996: The second presidential debate would be held in Hartford, Connecticut and it would center on foreign policy. The key issue would be if the United States should have a more interventionist agenda in the international seen. Sam Nunn would call for this and for America to come out of it's shell as President Perot would call this a bad idea to "police the world" in a sense and both Gramm and Nunn would attack Perot for his protectionist stance on some foreign policy. The debate would be won by Nunn with Perot in a mild second and Gramm would come in with more support in third place.

October 2nd, 1996: The Electronic Freedom of Information Act is passed that would guarantee that Americans would be guaranteed to some of the governments information be open to the public. President Perot would call this a step forward and would call on State Legislatures to pass similar laws in there respective states.

October 6th, 1996: The Vice Presidential debates would be held in St. Petersburg, Florida and the issue would be a variation and one of the continual questions would be that "are you ready to be President if anything were to happen to the incumbent?" and all through out the debate it was close but David Boren began to pull ahead of Kerrey and Wilson and would win it with a fair margin of victory as Kerrey and Wilson were about tied for second place.

October 16th, 1996: The third and final debate before the Election in November would be held in San Diego, California and it was somewhat chaotic and it would also be close as Perot would battle it out against Nunn and Gramm having gained strength in the last in the other debates would try to make a play to win the last presidential debate. The debate came down to a slim margin as Nunn rang out "We need to stop the enemies to freedom in the world, not what President Perot had done" and even as some had said Nunn talks "grumpy" the polling after the debate had Nunn with more percent that he knew more issues, the debate would go down as a tie between Nunn, Perot and Gramm.

October 25th, 1996: The very last Presidential Poll would show a suprise as Perot would lead by 36%, Nunn would have 34% and Gramm would have 29% and other parties would have only 1% of the vote. This closeness has been building over the campaigning and the debates as a worry and fervency was in the air as Republicans saw this as a way to climb above the terrible numbers from 1992, as Democrats wanted Perot out of office immediately and Perot was trying to create a legacy of sorts and a working third party for the United States.

Next: The Presidential Election of 1996!

November 4th, 1996: A day before the election, the final polls and the map as it stands on the eve of the election was still showing that the election was up in the air as President Perot was popular but was suprisingly not leading enough to be elected to a second term and with the lingering idea's of a split election was all the possible this year.

Perot: 116 EV, Nunn: 53 EV, Gramm: 54 EV

November 5th, 1996: Election Day was upon the nation as Americans went to cast there all to needed votes for President. The United States would have a good voter turnout, leveling in the high 50's and soon votes flowed in. Most would head to Perot as he began to rack up electoral votes early on and some saw this as his comeback and possible win his second term but things wound down as vote splitting gave some states to Nunn and after a fierce election it came down to Delaware and Indiana which would go to Nunn and Graham respectively. The results were so close for Perot to gain the 269 magic number but soon the results would head towards the House where a dirty battle would begin to gain the White House.

Ross Perot/David Boren: 266 EV 36% PV

Sam Nunn/Bob Kerrey: 199 EV 34% PV

Phil Gramm/Pete Wilson: 77 EV 29%

Other (Libertarian, US Taxpayers, etc): 0 EV 1% PV

January 6th, 1997: The new Congress would convene to have a contingent election to decide the President and Vice President. It would be bitter as the Republicans were split as "Grammites" or Republicans that were against Perot would support the Gramm/Wilson ticket as many other Republicans that had worked with the Perot Administration over the past four years would call out to support an electable ticket and back the Perot/Boren ticket but this split would lead to a downfall of sorts. This split would have the growing Reform Coalition with only there now 30+ seats in the House and there Republicans supporters as this would lead to a suprise as Sam Nunn would be elected as the 43rd President of the United States of America. The Senate would take the suprising note and after a decision between Bob Kerrey and David Boren, Boren would become the next Vice President. Pundits and President Perot were surprised by the turn of events that led to the election of Sam Nunn but it happened as soon the Nunn Administration would begin.

January 14th, 1997: A leak about cabinet appointments for the Nunn Administration would spark some intrigue and confusion as Colin Powell would be retained from the Perot Administration as State Secretary, So would Ann Richards and Norman Mineta keep there posts and after haggling Ralph Nader would keep his position as Energy Secretary but Nunn would decide to several of his own cabinet members as Roy Romer would be chosen as the new Agriculture Secretary and the Attorney General choice would be former Arkansas Governor Bill Clinton.

January 20th, 1997: Samuel Augustus Nunn Jr would be sworn in officially as the 43rd President of the US, David Lyle Boren would be sworn in as the 46th Vice President. President Nunn would declare in his Inaugural Speech that the "United States will fulfill a strong internationalist means of foreign policy" and one ringing phrase would become an unofficial slogan of sorts for the Nunn Administration, "A Strong America...".

January 21st, 1997: Former Vice Presidential nominee Bob Kerrey would be officially nominated for the position of Defense Secretary in the Nunn Cabinet to replace the now vacated position by David Boren.

January 22nd, 1997: After renomination's and new nominations for cabinet seats would come to the much speculated Attorney General post by Bill Clinton and Republicans and some Reform Coalitionists would be quick to bring up the sex scandal during the 1992 Presidential Election and also the Whitewater scandal over the real estate dealings of Bill and Hillary Clinton in Arkansas. This was a circus show to many as the nomination of Bill Clinton would stretch for five days.

January 23rd, 1997: On the third day of the nomination process, Bill Clinton would declare before Congress that his estate dealings in Arkansas weren't unlawful and the disturbing shots at his wife where disgraceful. This would begin to mark a turning point in the American support for the nomination of Clinton for Attorney General.

January 25th, 1997: William Jefferson Clinton of Arkansas would finally be nominated for the cabinet level position of Attorney General. Scandal rocked the nominating process and after the ridicule and satirizing by the media and the late night shows it would come to a final end.

February 4th, 1997: O.J. Simpson would be found liable in civil court for the death of Ron Goldman and for the battery of Nicole Brown Simpson. Simpson is ordered to pay $35,000,000 in damages to the families of the two victims.

February 10th, 1997: The United States Army would suspends Sergent Major Gene C. McKinney, one of it's top-ranking enlisted soldier, after hearing allegations of sexual misconduct. President Nunn would condemn McKinney's actions as "disgraceful".

February 20th, 1997: President Nunn would bar any funding on research on human cloning and would call it "immoral" in his eyes but still some would try to convince Nunn otherwise but it failed.

March 7th, 1997: The Former Soviet Republics Arms Reduction Act of 1997(FSRAR or SRAR) would add onto Nunn's cosponsored Nunn–Lugar Cooperative Threat Reduction(CTR) act in 1991 and would give extra funds to the former Soviet Republic's to dismantle and also stop and track weapons of mass destruction. In closed chats there would be plans if things needed to be a military incursion to stop WMD's from escaping the grasp of the former Soviet Republic's was not off the table.

Hmm, a President Nunn after the election went to the house is a very interesting a touch. It will be very interesting to see how effective he is at governing as a minority president as well as the first Democrat to "win" the Presidency in twenty years. Also, it seems that we truly have an bipartisan cabinent, how will that play in the future conflicts to come...Keep it comming.

Bob Kerrey wouldn't be able to swing Nebraska in Sam Nunn's favour, even if it were a three man race for the Presidency of the United States. Nor for a fact would numerous Vice Presidential candidates, for example John Edwards in 2004 for John Kerry, Jack Kemp in 1996 for Bob Dole, etc.

October 5th, 1997: Democrats in Congress would bring up the Campaign Finance bill that was passed under President Perot. Some Democrats would say to scrap the bill altogether as the remainder of allied Democrats, Reformers and Republicans say mainly that what could be summed up by Reform Party House Minority Leader Tim Penny saying "I think we can work together to work out the problems, we don't need to destroy a good idea that helps make elections more fair..".

October 9th, 1997: After a long struggle either to leave the Democratic Party or stay, Senator Russ Feingold of Wisconsin would announce that he would be leaving the Democratic Party and would sit as the first Reform Coalition Party Senator in Congress. The last straw for Feingold would be the Campaign Finance issue.

October 14th, 1997: Continual debate over Campaign Finance continues through Congress as a final solution is created. The bill will be looked over by a newly created bipartisan Congressional committee, the Bipartisan Campaign Finance Reform Committee(BCFRC).

December 10th, 1997: State Undersecretary Richard Holbrooke would bring news that the Iraqi Regime under Saddam Hussein could be giving secrets about nuclear technology to Middle Eastern insurgents. This news would worry President Nunn.

January 4th, 1998: A flashpoint in the Iraq Disarmament crisis occurs as a "Dragon Lady" or it's official title, the Lockheed U-2 would go down and crash in the northern region of Iraq after the President and the CIA ramped up U-2 flybys over the Hussein Regime's domain.

January 5th, 1998: The Dragon Lady flashpoint would continue as Saddam Hussein would call that they would gun down any other U-2 that fly over the Iraqi nation. This threat was seen as the first steps to invasion.

January 7th-8th, 1998: After only several days, the "Dragon Lady Flash" as it was called by some would dominate the headlines and also President Nunn's mind and the Administrations worries. President Nunn would agree to State Secretary Colin Powell's proposed trip to Kuwait to rally support in the nation and to affirm to the Kuwaitian people that the US would stand by them if Saddam Hussein would throw the Iraqi military at the small nation.

January 9th-10th, 1998: State Secretary would meet with Emir of Kuwait and the next day the Prime Minister Shiek Saad Al-Abdullah Al-Salim Al-Sabah. These meetings would inflame rage from Saddam Hussein.

January 13th, 1998: After a five day stay in the nation of Kuwait, State Secretary Colin Powell would take his limo to the awaiting airport to be sped off back to the United States, but this wouldn't be. As the limo made it's way to the airport, the limo would explode, killing Powell and all who were in the limo with him. President Nunn and the Administration was in shock and would vow everything to find who did this.

January 14th, 1998: The American people would watch as a crude video of the limo explosion in Kuwait of the "Powell Crisis" on every national TV as newscasters of all sorts reported on this. Working with the branches of Intelligence, the Nunn Administration would try and find the culprit of what they called "A cruel and unjustified attack upon the nation, an great American hero and his beloved family...".

January 15th, 1998: President Nunn would make an emergency speech in front of the American people as he would talk about the Dragon Lady flashpoint but mainly about the current Powell death. He would then say that they have linked the Iraqi regime under Saddam Hussein. From his speech the words "The slaughter of Kurds and Americans must not go unheeded, we must and shall act...". Congress would then vote on an declaration of war against Iraq, the vote would pass through and the Second Gulf War would be underway.

Great installment Andy; Its good to see this old timeline back up again and running...Maybe you should think about moving the thread to the Election What-If's as thats where a majority of the actual timelines are held, and you probablly get some more replies that away. Anways...Having Powell killed really does make things interesting, as the Powell Strategy that was so "successful" in OTL's first Gulf War probably wont be implemented again. With an earlier Iraq war, this could radically shape the outlook of the 2000 election...Can't wait to see which Republicans and Reform Coalitioners through their hat into the race in '99. Also can we get an indepth look at Nunn's cabinet?

January 16th-18th, 1998: A new coalition of nations that was formed by President Nunn in the wake of the threat that Iraq may pose, would begin the Second Gulf War with Operation: Desert Rain. The "Powell Doctrine" and a copy of the "Powell Plan" that would be used by Central Command leader Anthony Zinni would ferment a leading plan to face Iraq. The first engagements would be extensive bombing campaigns into the Iraqi nation. During the air strike, a number of coalition fighters were shot down by Iraqi radar guided missiles.

January 20th-21st, 1998: In the United States a circus is emergence as Attorney General Bill Clinton of Arkansas has mistresses Paula Jones and Monica Lewinsky come forward and say that they had sexual intercourse with the Attorney General. Secretary Clinton would deny this saying "I did not do it..." flatly to reporters.

January 21st, 1998: The majority of the coalition ground forces would begin to roll into southern Iraq and easily make pace and set up a main base of activities in the southern portion of the Iraqi nation. January 29th, 1998: Republicans in Congress bring up impeachment charges against Attorney General Bill Clinton on the basic of his "womanizing" though Democrats said that wasn't enough, Republicans had a semi majority but it would be left to the Reform Coalition members in Congress to decide to bring impeachment against Clinton.

February 4th, 1998: Enough Coalitionists (Reform Coalition members) support to have impeachment hearings and ultimately a vote on to remove Clinton from office, this would have some backlash on the Nunn Administration as Nunn's approval ratings were in the mid to high 70's and would take a small dive, about 2 points because of the "Clinton Circus".

February 6th, 1998: Coalition forces begins to found the "Free Iraq" or a transition nation-state in the liberated areas of the country from the Hussein Regime. This would gain cheers internationally and in Iraq but would have many Iraqi's weary of the international sway that foreign powers had on this "Free Iraq".

February 9th, 1998: The first days of the impeachment hears for Attorney General Bill Clinton begin as Monica Lewinsky would go onto morning shows and would "regail" as some called it about her involvement with the cabinet member. Many pundits would call Clinton "damaged goods" as his talks about maybe running for President in possibly 2004 would crumble for the time being.

Hmm, Im suprised ol slick willie wouldn't resign in the face of the impeachment trial...This will probably end any chance of Hillary of winning office in her own right. JFK Jr for his late uncle's New York Senate Seat in 2000 perhaps?

February 7th-22nd, 1998: The 1998 Olympic Winter Games would commence in Salt Lake City, Utah. Both the Mayor of SLC Deedee Corradini and Utah Governor Michael Leavitt. Another guest would be Massachusetts Senator Mitt Romney, who would gain some interest and some of the spotlight for a short while on the national stage.

February 10th-12th, 1998: After pressure from the impeachment and from many people calling for Clinton to resign. Bill Clinton would sadly step down as Attorney General. Finally the "Clinton Circus" was over as the blight on the Nunn Administration began to dissipate for now. Congressman would then begin to call for a "truth mission" with a number of President Nunn's cabinet members. Although with some objections, the "search" of sorts would begin.

March 11th, 1998: The Danish Parliamentary election of 1998 would spell the election of a new government, one that would be of a center-right stance and would have Uffe Ellemann-Jensen become Prime Minister.

March 16th, 1998: Defense Secretary Bob Kerrey would have investigations placed against him after surprisingly his past came to haunt him. March 18th, 1998: Defense Secretary Kerrey would say in a White House conference that " You can never, can never get away from it. It darkens your day. I thought dying for your country was the worst thing that could happen to you, and I don't think it is. I think killing for your country can be a lot worse". This would ultimately save any possible major charges for impeachment against Kerrey.

April 4th, 1998: A group of coalition soldiers would "stumble" onto small bases that would contain numerous chemical bombs. The US and the coalition forces would quickly take these into custody.

May 23rd, 1998: The "Zinni Plan" would continue to prove it's effectiveness as coalition forces continue there march through the Iraqi nation. The regime leader Saddam Hussein would continue to spout that he would never give up to the "American hellions".

June 4th, 1998: President Nunn would object to some government officials calling for a strong "De-Baathification" on Iraqi civil services. Nunn would say that this Baathification was to extreme and would cut a large amount of the Iraqi civil service and could drastically hurt the chances of setting up a democracy in Iraq.

June 19th-21st, 1998: Coalition forces would arrive finally at the capitol of Baghdad. There would be a drawn out battle to the city and in the city. As the major fighting died for a short time, an US reporter would catch the US soldiers raising the United Nations  and American flags. A boost to President Nunn's ratings would soon follow.

August 7th, 1998: Bombings occur on the United States embassies in Dar es Salaam, Tanzania and Nairobi, Kenya. This attack would kill over 200 and injure over 4,500. These terrible attacks would soon be linked to the Saudi Arabian exile, a man called Osama bin Laden.

So was the coalition expanded into Afgahnistan, or was that a sole American operation? Also I assume Saddam will eventually be captured and tried for war crimes. After the successful operation, I assume that Nunn's approval ratings will remain pretty high as well as the economy should be faring simmilar to that of OTL, so it will be interesting to see how the GOP and the Reform coalition parties run against such a popular president

The bombings into Afghanistan were just mainly solo as in OTL but Nunn got some flack by some of the Coalition nations but nothing that effects the Second Gulf War. The economy is virtually the same and I'm still pondering who the Republicans and Reformers will nominate come 2000. Thanks for also reading my TL and I hope you continue to enjoy it. Smiley

September 26th, 1998: President Nunn and many other politicians and military leaders would echo the same tune, "The major front of this war is coming to a close, now we must rebuild..." would sum up the Second Gulf War as rebuilding would become more of an objective and the capture and eventual trial of Saddam Hussein.

October 7th, 1998: The Sonny Bono Copyright Term Extension or the "Mickey Mouse Act" beat down in Congress after Reformers and Republicans said it "Wasn't adequate" as a bill.

October 9th-13th, 1998: Prime Minister of Canada, Jean Chretien would be shot as he was leaving a conference upon Quebecois-Canadian relations. This attach would be linked to several extremely radical cells of the otherwise more peaceful organization "All Of Quebec" or AOQ. This would cause a backlash at the AOQ as Quebecois and Canadians would unite against the organization. Prime Minister Chretien would be only grazed and would survive.

November 3rd, 1998: Congressional/Gubernational Elections - Separate post for this

November 20th-21st, 1998: An Taliban court in Afghanistan declares accused terrorist Osama Bin Laden that he is "A man without sin.." upon regards to the bombings on the US embassies in Kenya and Sudan. President Nunn would say to "keep an eye" on Bin Laden.

November 30th, 1998: The Quebec Republic General Elections would be held as incumbent President Jacques Parizeau would be elected to fulfill a full term of office in his own right quite easily. Only the Liberal Party and the Equality Party were the major competetors in the election and would loose by a fair margin.

December 3rd, 1998: The news that Saddam Hussein was captured was easily celebrated. The Nunn Administration was at an all time high in popularity and it seemed that the Second Gulf War was near the end. State Secretary Richard Holbrooke would say that "the wounds can now heal and Iraq can finally get it's full attention on rebuilding.

December 16th, 1998: "Grammites" as they where called, would call for the resignation of Newt Gingrich as Speaker of the House after their losses in the Congressional Elections of 1998. This would at first go unheeded as several Grammites would vie for Congressional power positions.

December 27th, 1998: Several Grammites would tackle Gingrich and would try and wrestle the Speakership from him. These attempts would ultimately fail but would galvanize certain factions in the Republican Party against Gingrich and the major supporters of the former Perot Administration.

January 8th-13th, 1999: Soon after the start of the 106th United States Congress, tension ran high among the Republicans and this reared it's head in a terrible way. An angry deranged man would assassinate Newt Gingrich in anger of him "being a traitor to the nation". The deranged man would quickly be locked away as the Congress was shooken and soon after Gingrich resigned from the Speakership to re-couperate but for the time being still be Congressman. Two failed assassination attempts would be a suprise, Chretein in Canada and now Gingrich in the US and this would show the growing radical factions in their nations.

January 19th-20th, 1999: After a long move to choose the new Speaker, Bob Livingston of Louisiana would be designated as the Speaker-Elect but sexual misconduct doomed this and Dick Armey of Texas would become the new Speaker and would say that "Union in are party is the only solution" in his short speech to Congress.

The PQ would have split following independence into a right-wing PQ and left-wing PQ.
