Inspired by BRTD, what is your ideal time of day to work? Let's assume an 8 hour day. I say noon-8pm. You can sleep in and still have time to go out at night.

for me it would be 6am-7pm. That way I get out to work early and don't have to do anything else but come home and eat dinner and sleep.

I don't mind my hours of 8:30-5 though if I could go in at 9 that would be even better.

I like to work those hours as I don't get pulled into worthless, timewasting meetings, and have to deal with idiots like the boss in Dilbert.

Yep, that's one of the better perks to working at night.  Plus, NAPS!

that is an awful shift.

at a previous job i had to work the noon-9pm shift (with an hour lunch) all too often.  it sucked.  ruins your day and evening.

7am-3pm is probably my favorite

This, or 11 am - 7 pm. I currently work 3-11 and if any good event is happening during the evening of a weekday, I miss it.

I agree with memphis. That's basically what I work Saturdays (11:30AM-8PM). The rest of the week I work 2-10:30PM, which I prefer to morning since I still don't have to get up early, and hey, the bars close at 2.

The traditional 9-5. A little variation would be good though.

I'm fully with Tik on this.

Chance to sleep in, but still finish early enough to go out for dinner or whatever.

When I was a vendor, during my summers in college, I actually enjoyed the 5AM-1PM shift.  You get in before anybody is really around and you're done way before rush hour hits. However, those days rarely happened, it was more of a 7-4 shift.

For the Army (in a garrison environment), I was content on 6:30 for PT, work at 9:00, lunch at either 11:30 or 12:00 and go home for the day at 16:30. Although those days didn't happen much either.

There is no one ideal time slot - it will vary by individual.

Mine is 8AM-4PM.

10-6. Time enough to sleep in a bit, not too late to waste the morning, etc.

10am to 6pm

Get to sleep in a little bit, and be home to catch the Mariner game. Grin (When the M's are on the West Coast, that is)

What exactly do you do?

For some reason I thought you had something to do with trucks. Could have been my imagination.

I find that I prefer long work hours (10-12) on two or three days, and short work days on all other days of the week.

I love my hours. I work 3pm to 11pm for now on Mondays to help fill in for someone. It's great, I can still party on Sunday and not worry about a thing. As for the rest of the week, I'm  7am-3pm. Gives me more than enough time to do what I have to do in the afternoon, and still be able to go out at night.

I'm not much of a sleeping person. I could go to bed at 3 in the morning and still be up and at work for 7.
