Even as Obama is opening up a lead in Iowa polls, the race in Minnesota remains tight.

If talk about Palin's accent being a factor seems a little strained, think of it this way: If the 1992 Democratic nominee had looked exactly like Bill Clinton, espoused the same policies but sounded more like a Brooklyn native than someone from Dixie, would the Democrats have carried Kentucky, Louisiana and Georgia that year?

Food for thought...

No.  While her accent is a breath of fresh air compared to the constant southern drawls we have to listen to come every election, I'd like to think we're not that shallow.

But then again, I'm not convinced that the race is very competitive here.

I might end up being shocked, but I would be shocked if Obama doesn't win MN by a large margin.
