Poor guy.  Will it be Polonium-210 again?  Nah, he's inside Russia, he'll just be arrested and shot in the back seat of a  police car.  Or possibly shot in his own car while somebody wraps a belt around Lebedev's throat.  If we've learned nothing else about Putin it's that he takes no sh**t.

There's also the old car bomb technique that was tried on Berezovsky. Any sort of poison also works - Litvinenko was allegedly sent to poison Berezovsky in England before he became a dissident. Assumedly they're currently trying out new techniques to get Berezovsky with, I'd say his revolutionary tendencies have to be more annoying than Gorbachev and Lebedev's pushes for reform.

I think something new should be tried...Shooting and poison are getting kind of old.

He will suffer a fate worse than death: be completely ignored by both the government and the public, which considers him on of the worst leaders of Russia in the last 50 years.

Won't amount to anything. The only credible opposition is the KPRF.

Maybe he'll try to join the party that he screwed over/screwed over him, and ask for forgiveness, and that he will strive to fight for the Great Socialist Motherland.

I wouldn't be surprised if an attempt on Mikhail Sergeyevich's occurs but I doubt it. Due to one reason: visibility. Sure Gorbachev is a recognisable figure, but Gorbachev has been all but ignored by the Russian media of late, thus I doubt his attempts to significantly chance the face of Russian politics will not be taken seriously. And as Xahar said earlier, the only credible opposition to the United Russia Party is the CPRF.

By the way, Gorbachev will be 78 next year and his health is not very good. If he dies a natural death, will you assume he was killed, dead0man?
And you're again cherrypicking quotes. You should have included this:

And Gorbachev already has a party:

And if he dies from blood loss due to a bullet wound like just any other member of the press will you still make excuses for Putin?

In this very unlikely scenario, Putin would be one of the main suspects. Still, I don't assume like you that all assasinations in Russia are ordered by Putin, so I wouldn't jump to conclusions.

Do you think the killings of press are?  If not, who and why?

So many journalists are killed in Russia that there are probably multiple reasons for their murders. I can't give generalised reasons for all of them (and there are some murders who are not murders at all). In any case the two examples you gave are probably the worst examples of people killed on the orders of Putin, as they worked for the state TV and were not involved in opposition activities.

GMantis actually has a point. Gorbachov is a) pretty old and b) very unpopular in Russa.

This new political party will probably go nowhere. Current electoral laws and control over mass media are quite suffice, the Kremlin doesn't really need to kill anyone in order to prevent any serious opposition. And in the unlikely event that this party is a success, it will be despite and not because of Gorbachov.

Btw, it's perhaps a little known fact, but Gorbachev already tried ro run for Russian president in the 1996 election. Back then, he managed to receive 0.5% of the vote.
