I think I’m afraid of death the most. It’s not as bad as it was in past years, but I still fear if this is it and then I‘m just, nothing after this. That’s really depressing to think about, and sends me out into all this existential angst I won’t bother going into at this time. But this is why I strive to live the best life I can, take a few risks, and see what happens.

My other fears involves getting old, which I dread. I’ve seen age and what it does to people, and I hope that does not happen to me. I’d rather die at my peak rather then face a slow decline, but of course I say that now, when it’s still a few years away. In a few years, I might be more reluctant, pardon the pun.

I fear going nuts and over the edge too, but I'm pretty lucid and stable now, so I'm feeling pretty good on that front today, ha.

Yeah old age can do horrible things to people. I lived with my grandfather...... and saw him die it was horrible. That also is why I know so many old people.

I'm afraid of dying some horrific death in which I know I'm going to die. I hope I go peacefully in my sleep.

Do you want to be young or old when you die?

Old preferably, but of course I have no say in the matter.

the knowledge that I will be dead relatively soon freaks me out from time to time.

because, subjectively, the world only exists from my perspective.  the idea that I will be gone yet everything else will carry on without a skipped step spooks me a little bit.  it makes me realize how irrelevant I am.

think of it this way, you are the one who passes down knowledge and brings new ways to think of problems and ideas. I would rather die if I could pass that stuff down then affect  no one.

that tomorrow will yield the exact same thing as today. Which it almost certainly will, so I'm not sure I why I fear it. Perhaps "dread' is a better term.

As a 30something with kids, I constantly worry about dying before my kids are grown or having something bad happen to them.  Past that, I don't worry about much.

I guess my greatest fear is not being loved. But that won't happen since I am me. I read in a paper that statistics show that people are more afraid of getting old then dieing. I think that is true for the most part.

I'm afraid of dying without having raised children. It's very likely that that will happen though.

I suppose my greatest fear is just not finding someone to spend my life with. I'm not terrified mind you, but I don't want to be alone in my later years.

I can definitely relate to this one.  It's frustrating that the only girls around here who are as straight-laced as I am are hardcore religious nuts.

On a very personal (selfish? Is that a better word? I mean, most of my fears tend to concern other people) basis? I resigned myself a long time ago to both a lifetime of pain and the likelyhood of then dying of cancer at a relatively early age. So the "normal" fears don't really have that chilly horror to them that they might do... I think that it would have to be something of a slightly lower order. These days I seem to find the very real possibility that I'll have to walk with a stick before I'm thirty "scarier" than death. I'm not quite sure what that says about me, or what I believe.

My greatest fear is easy.  Losing my daughter.  I can't even fathom it.

And the irony is, I didn't want kids at all.

Water, floating, drowning.

I'd prefer a quick and painless death, but I've known enough people who linger.

I am afraid of continuing to live past my time with a degraded brain. I plan to avoid that.
