With the exception of Dole and Wicker, all vulnerable Republicans voted for the bailout this evening. Will this vote hurt them come November 4th, or will Americans accept this Senate re-do?

If the bailout issue is still important come election day, it hurts them regardless of vote.

Although Dole and Wicker's vote makes a lot of sense considering the population of those states (esp. in North Carolina - the working class forms a chunk of the Republican base).

Merkley was pressing the issue last week, but he backed off after the bill failed in the House. I doubt the salience of the vote up in Alaska (a race that will likely be decided by a D.C. jury). Franken and Coleman are too busing throwing mud to engage in a substantive debate.

The only other competitive race for a Republican-held seat where this could resonate is Kentucky. I could see Lunsford, who's running on an anti-Washington/populist message, making political hay of this issue.

It may be bad for McConnell, Chambliss and Graham (who is opposed to a conservative....).
Really bad for them.

Coleman may have taken less risks.

Dole (and Landrieu) are not very courageous....

And what about Nelson (FL): why has he voted NAY ?
