A few thoughts:

+ It looks like all that money that Obama is spending in FL is beginning to pay off.
+ It's quite odd to see that the Obama campaign is spending more money in Indiana and North Carolina than Iowa. It must indicate their supreme confidence in IA turning blue.
+ While the Obama campaign is spending a good deal of money in Ohio, it is not getting the same full court press as PA and FL. They must see some things they don't like in Ohio.

He's spending the SC market that covers Western North Carolina.

West Virginia is interesting. Both Obama and the RNC are spending in Charleston apparently, which is in the center of the state and only covers WV.

It certainly does appear that Obama has a money advantage.

and why is McCain still spending money in IA

wow, McCain's barely even trying in Virginia. And he's being outspent 7:1 in Florida. No wonder he's been polling so poorly there.

and why is McCain still spending money in IA

what I suspect it is is that he can't be seen as pulling out of a Bush state. Pulling out of Iowa would have made far more sense than pulling out of Michigan.

I picked them up off Kos http://www.dailykos.com/story/2008/10/3/115757/542/408/618955

Which is amazingly stupid considering that THEY'VE ALREADY STARTED VOTING THERE!

McCain is spending more in IA than VA.

I'm speechless.

Yes but in their conference call explaining the MI pullout they talked about getting to 260 by winning what they call 'the traditional GOP states' of FL, MO, OH, IN, VA and NC and then 'getting the next 10' from NM, NV, NH, WI, MN, or PA. They made no mention of IA and I took from that that they had written it off (which makes sense).

It doesn't make sense to spend that kind of money merely to say they are. To spend more in IA than VA just to save face is not plausible. I bet that this week those numbers are reversed or they are out of IA entirely

He's spending the SC market that covers Western North Carolina.

Since only the ABC and CW stations in the Greenville-Spartanburg-Anderson-Asheville DMA are in North Carolina, it probably is getting the lion's share of any SC Obama ad buys, tho the My Network station for the Charlotte market is in Rock Hill, SC so it might be getting some.

If Obama starts spending in Georgia again,  the CBS affiliate WRDW in North Augusta, SC and the Fox affiliate WTGS (licensed for Hardeeville, SC, but the transmitter is on the GA side of the border near Savannah) should also see ad buys.

McCain is spending more in IA than VA.

I'm speechless.

Why does McCain act like he has a 10,000 dollar budget?  McCain's reluctance to play defense could be fatal.

At this point, I'm seriously wondering if the RNC will write off the White House & take the fight to the capitol.

You know, for all the talk of Obama's risky 50 state strategy or his "arrogance" for campaigning in states like North Dakota, few people have mentioned the McCain campaign's highly questionable strategy of not investing in states that no Republican has lost since Barry Goldwater simply because he assumes they can't vote Democratic.

This could be bad annecdotal information, but I saw way more McCain adds last night than Obama.  McCain, especially the RNC was blitzing ABC in Cleveland.

I have to apologize for suggesting in other threads that McCain was spending money heavily in Indiana.  Those were RNC ads.  Still ominous, but not the same.

Mea culpa!
