In 2004, Kerry only needed Ohio to win the election.  I was wondering how this could have happened and I thought the forum might be able to provide some input.

Any ideas?  Maybe a different VP candidate?

I'm not really sure if a VP candidate could tip the scales enough for a Kerry win.

Perhaps mentioning how many jobs Ohio lost under Bush would do it, really drive that home with commercials.

Maybe having a stronger candidate at the 2002 Secretary of State election?  After what happened in Florida in 2000 Democrats should have been more prepared for similar incidents in states that could decide the election.

Mark Warner who should have been the VP candidate instead of Edwards, would have prompted him to the natl stage, and could have given him a leg up on Obama in the 2008 election.

But, instead he stayed in Richmond and failed to gain natl media attention to mount a serious presidential campaign.

But, Warner, not Edwards would have been a better VP pick.

Less of this

http://www.telegraph.co.uk/news/worldnews/northamerica/usa/1474828/Guardian-calls-it-quits-in-Clark-County-fiasco.html

I don't mean one British newspaper calling off one letter writing campaign to one county in Ohio would have swung it, but less of the global smugness that enveloped the Democrats in 2004. Plainly, the smug disopprobrium of the world against Bush for reacting appropriately to 9/11 was not going to deter the American people from re-electing him.
