It's a left-leaning site overall, but it's not like any swing voters visit there. No one is going to be persuaded.

Of course how anyone could be persuaded by an internet banner ad is beyond me. I suppose these ads make sense when they're pushing for fundraising, but McCain can't do that anymore, and if he could, there are way better sites than 538.

It isn't powered by Google-content ads, like this site is?  Notice how when the thread topic is about Sarah Palin, more Palin ads appear.  One would assume that these ads pick up on key-words present throughout the site and, through a system of bidden, assign the graphic ads a priority.

I have never seen any McCain or Obama ads on fivethirteight.com, is that because I am in the UK?

I don't see the McCain ad, but yes, fivethirtyeight.com has only google banner ads at the top of the screen.

That is normal. Ads are geographic. I'm in Canada and to the top of this page, I have a Radio-Canada (the french state-owned television in Canada) ad, a NPD (left party) ad, and a Canada election news site.

So, 538.com, political site, McCain paid for Google ads, you are in the US, you see the ads.
I go there, I see NDP ads and Canada elections news because I'm in Canada.

On many other US political sites I see Harper = Bush ads.
