This hearing is called to order.

Senators are encouraged to debate the qualities of the nominee and ask him questions.

One of the most qualified Atlasians for the job, IMO.

I think you want the job yourself!? Well, help me sink this nominee then!

Any specific ideas you'd like to bring to the job, Hashe?

There are some indications that a number of matters regarding the foreign affairs of Atlasia shall be up for debate presently. What are your thoughts on these issues?

Also, one specific question. How do you feel about the ICC and, in your opinion, should Atlasia become a member?

I shall be voting against this nominee.  Anyone who has seceded from the country should not be allowed to represent our nation to foreign countries.  What kind of message does that send?

I'd like to get the DoEA active again, and not a dead and dusty office that doesn't do anything. I'll continue the Foreign Policy Review started by SoEA Al. I'd be interested in continuing the China panel that SoEA MasterJedi wished to spark up, but got lost in the realm of things. I hope that answers the scope of your question.

There are some indications that a number of matters regarding the foreign affairs of Atlasia shall be up for debate presently. What are your thoughts on these issues?

The US recognition issue is the big thing that will take up the DoEA and the White House these next few weeks. While I am personally divided on this plan, but I will in no way let any personal views I may have on that matter let me interfere with my work with the President and the Senate to draft a clear question on the issue.

Also, one specific question. How do you feel about the ICC and, in your opinion, should Atlasia become a member?

I assume you mean the International Criminal Court and not the International Communist Current Grin.
Seriously, though, I am a supporter of the work of the ICC and I personally believe that Atlasia should become a member. If confirmed, it'll be an issue I'd be interested in working with the President and the Senators on to see what specific stance we should take.

Unfortunately, I don't think I'm the President's next choice.

The International Cricket Council?

That's what I thought. Smiley

I'm not sure I can go for this. Wasn't Hashemite among the secessionists?

He seceded from the Southeast in an attempt to escape the secessionists. Fact of the matter is, the Secession Crisis fell apart when he returned.

He WAS the secessionist.  No one at all left Atlasia except for Hashemite.  He is a traitor to our great nation and should be treated as such.  My vote for president becomes easier every day when Moderate takes direct shots at the Dirty South and regional rights, and patriotism, at every chance

Oh, lord.  Do you actually believe this stuff that you're saying, or do you just want to find any reason possible to claim victimhood?

I'm taking direct shots at patriotism?  Christ.

You are.  How in the world can we appoint someone to represent the country to the rest of the world when that person at one point in the recent past denounced their citizenship?  Seems ridiculous.  With the all the qualified people, you chose him.  Shows, once again, a terrible decision in judgement.  I don't think your stupid, so the only other explanation is to take shots at the RPP, Dirty South, and other pro-regional people

I am a little confused. Is Moderate a region hater who favors secession, so we have multiple countries with only one region each (sort of like the city and county of Philadelphia or San Francisco), or just one of those Christian types with a soft spot for  ex sinners (e.g., ex secessionists), as opposed to those who have never sinned, who therefore are not in so much need of redemption?

Mr Hashemite, in light of the apparent failure of the Ethical Trade Policy Act, will you be imposing sanctions against Thailand in light of developments there since passage of the Atlasia - Thailand Free Trade Act?

I would withhold from imposing sanctions at the moment, but it would be a course of action to be considered while working with the Senate and the President.

Looks like the nominee will simply dodge the non-softball questions

I ask again:
Why should we let you, a person who is a treasonist to this great country of ours, represent us to the world when you renounced your citizenship?  What kind of message does that send?

Yeah, we call those "rhetorical questions," and we typically don't waste our time pretending that they're questions and not statements.
