Hahahah, the states that would be in play.

Indian, Missouri, North Carolina and Montana would be lean Obama, suffice it to say.

Well, such a race could still happen in 2012.  Of course, Huckabee will need to figure out a way to appeal to at least *some* Republicans who aren't evangelicals, if he wants to win the nomination.

He'd be better than McCain on the economy, probably. Not really saying much.

It would be pretty much the same map with Arizona being more in Obama's direction, and Virginia being more in Huckabee's direction.

He's more outsider, for sure. But still, Huck would have trouble electorally.

He may be in the hunt simply because he's such a wonderful communicator. He probably would've won the town hall debate even though his policies are pretty wacko. He's too populist for my tastes and too conservative socially, but I love to listen to the man speak. He's warm and sincere. McCain is having a hard time right now.

Well Huckabee might be playing better in some of the southern states (VA,NC,etc.) that McCain is having trouble with and he is a better debater in some ways.

That said, he would probably be 15 points behind nationally. It's just very difficult to take the guy seriously. Obama would landslide in many parts of the West, Northeast, Midwest, maybe even Florida (it's not a traditional southern state afterall).

Huck will only win the South and places that are Republican by default.

There would be two Democratic parties:  the current one, and the formerly Republican one gone Liberal but very vocal about Jesus!

He is basically the 2008 version of William Jennings Bryan.

I don't often agree with your non-music posts, but that one's right on the money.

Why would Huckabee do so much worse than McNicotine?  Huckabee sounds better.  In fact, he sounded a lot like Edwards on economic issues.  Huckabee would do better than McNicotine among the working class voters and would (unlike McNicotine) hold his own against Obama on this economic crisis.  I just can't believe that some of you have Huckabee losing in Alaska, Montana, North Dakota, South Dakota, Nebraska, and Kansas (where McNicotine is far ahead of Obama but was trounced by Huckabee in the primary).

If Huckabee were the nominee, we'd have a real horse race.  In fact, I was even convinced that McNicotine was going to pick him as his running mate.  Thankfully, Huckabee is neither, and I just can't believe it.  Economic issues would allow Huckabee to appeal to people outside his religious conservative base in the South.

Virginia would also be even further in Obama's column.  Northern VA which is already a disaster for the GOP would be a down right catastrophe.
