No.
If people want to work until they're 80, I don't
see a problem. People shouldn't be forced to
retire because they hit a certain age.

If you are physically and mentally capable of doing your job then you should not be forced to retire.

A "suggested" retirement age though is advisable for certain positions.

Frankly it's ageist.
Many old people still have a great deal to offer, it's ridiculous to force them to retire.

The only time retirement should be required should be if you are no longer capable to do the job.  Even then it should be a case-by-case basis.

Yes and no! - because there is so many different situations where a retirement age is a good thing. I for one is quite glad that we have a retirement age because of in the Danish edicational system there is a lot of teachers (university and public school) that have lifelong jobs (meaning that they can only be fired for neglect or with 3 years salary) and if we didn't have a retirement age I know a number of professors how would have continued to work and teach (badly!) until their death.
If it is possible to fire people when they get too old or senile, I see no reson for a mandatory retirement age, but I firmly belive that their sould be a volontary retirement age - a point / an age from where you have the right to a pension,

It's up to the people to decide their own welfare. If someone wants to work till they're 95, let them. If someone wants to retire at 35 and go poor, let them.

The government has no power over these things.

There should be no madatory retirement except if the job that the person is doing requires heavy lifting or hard physical labor, than I think that an 80 year old should not be doing that. If they still want to work, give them a job as a manager or something like that.

My thoughts exactly.

They're not common, but I've seen 80-year-olds who are much fitter than most 40-year-olds, old guys who do something like a 10-kilometer run every morning.  If they're still able to do the job, they should be allowed to; likewise, if they're not, they shouldn't.

I don't want 90 year old soldiers defending the country. I also don't want a 95 year old pilot.

I think we should mandate everyone gets to retire at age 40, That would be the life hey?
