Not everyone is decided yet.

It's a Fox News poll.

Most of the other polls have shown significantly less undecided.

Apparently Rush was talking about this poll today on his show, so I see the talking points have gne out.

But the margin is about the same and the undecides were increasing.  I think this race is more volatile than the stock market.

This race is more volatile than the stock market?? Goodness.. This race is far more stabile than the stock market. The stock market has gone bananas and this race has stayed fairly stable with Obama leading in the high single digits for several days in a row.

It's an Opinion Dynamics poll, which are pretty good. Of course, when explaining things to Chris, one needs to speak in terms a first grader would understand.

IN his world, the only poll worth believing is Gallup, and their track record in 2004 was awful.

Long term, the last month, this is one of the most volatile races I've ever seen.

McCain's lead lasted less than a week.Obama has been leading for almost a month now.He has a big lead. The economy is in worse shape than ever.
I don't see how this race is volatile.

Obama has had a lead throughout the entire race except for a little while around the Palin VP annoucement/GOP Convention. It isn't exactly shocking that McCain would take the lead during that time.

Why bother? He's made his mind up.

If J .J. thinks it's the most volatile race ever then it's the most volatile race ever. Logic and common sense doesn't matter.

J.J., this has been one of the most stable races in a long, long time.  What the hell are you talking about?  We saw ONE significant bounce.

Incorrect.

the Gallup state-poll model did blow up horribly in 2004, but they took steps to correct it thereafter.  their national poll wasn't bad, IIRC, which is obviously what's relevant here.

as for this poll, FOX/OD has forever had some of the highest undecided figures of any credible national pollster, so this is hardly any sign of volatility.  as a rule, it's best not to listen to anything JJ says.

Uh...just for the record, McCain's lead lasted for about two weeks.
