If a bunch of "liberal Hollywood types" are able to knock off Republican incumbents, these "high-level Democrats" should be glad.

I think he's great.  Now, my view may be influenced by the fact that he goes to my Temple, and lives very close to me, but he's still one of my favorite people on TV.

After Reagan and Schwarzenegger, I'm a little surprised we haven't seen any somewhat serious runs for office by a Hollywood liberal in California (or maybe we have and I just wasn't paying attention).

Governor Clooney has a nice ring to it.

Are these the same high level Democrats that took the opportunity of Congressional power after 2006 to kiss President Bush's ass more?

So they would rather Wellstone's seat stay in Republican hands and kiss goodbye any shot at hitting 60 than see Franken elected? Uh huh... I'd like to know who these "high level" Democrats are...

I think their names are Harold Ford Jr, Zell Miller and Joe Lieberman.

I completely and totally understand their fear.  The bottom line is that Franken is a horrendous candidate and general embarassment to his party and his state.  Any idiot with a D after their name should be clobbering Coleman at this point.

I maintain Al Franken is the Democratic counterpart to Alan Keyes.  (Whether electable remains to be seen.)

Dinos don't want to hit 60 as then they'll have no excuse for the continuance of right-wing economic policy.

Al Franken is quite intelligent and has demonstrated a passion for the issues. I doubt he'll ever show up to the Senate floor with a red nose and clown make-up on. He'll probably fit right in, just like Sonny Bono, who proved to be a competent legislator.

I maintain Al Franken is the Democratic counterpart to Alan Keyes.  (Whether electable remains to be seen.)

Keyes runs vanity campaigns every chance he gets to promote his real paid career as a hired speaker and, well, perennial candidate. (His campaign donors fund his life.) Say what you will about Franken, but he has done a ton of legwork in preparation for this run and is not doing it in order to skim off a salary for himself from low-information campaign donors, and is not going to show up on every ballot line in creation in random states if he loses.
