Primary turnout is only important inasmuch as it shows organizational strength.

Now I realize that on election day, the demographics may be more favorable to McCain, and he may very well be able to garner more votes than Obama.  But if this trend continues throughout early voting McCain will have a sizeable deficit to make up on election day.  If this trend continues through election day, then Obama will carry the state.

George Bush carried 40.3% of the vote in New Jersey in 2000.  Four years later, his share increased to 46.2%, an increase of 5.9%.  If this trend continues, Republicans will win 52.1% of the vote in New Jersey and capture the 15 electoral votes there to make up for losing the 15 in Georgia.

In fact, I would posit that that fact that they have turned out early will preclude them from turning out later.

Remember, this is Georgia, not Chicago or New Mexico.

Are you suggesting that some Counties in other parts of the nation have less than squeeky clean electoral administration?

I am shocked, shocked I say!

EVs are a self-selecting group that have stopped considering the other candidate.  I'm not at all shocked that GA AA Dems are in this category, and I don't think it says anything at all about the eventual results.

I'll just quote what I said in the recent Georgia poll topic:

Side note: African-Americans made up 25.4% of the electorate in 2004 with nearly 90% of them supporting a white Democrat, when Bush was unpopular but clearly not as unpopular as he is now. I honestly believe it's possible for them to reach 35% of the electorate this time, although I would say 31-32% is more realistic. A turnout of 40% is unfathomable, unless the previously mentioned white apathy is even more widespread than is apparent.

Stop calling them african americans OK.  Black americans is what they are.

If this vote helps Obama win then maybe the Gop needs to drop the anti black platform and start trying to win atlest 15% of them.

Giving Obama 98% of a voting block isn't good. I guess you hope they don't all show up to the polls.

If the wife of the first "black president" couldn't get blacks away from Obama, what makes you assume that the GOP would have better luck.
