Are the Greens really significantly to the left of the NDP? It always seemed to me that they were basically just the NDP with a focus on environmentalism.

Greens? Left of NDP?

Are you on crack?

No, but the Greens are really just the Liberals rebranded. They're well to the right of the NDP.

The Greens are not to the left of the NDP. If they were, I wouldn't be supporting them in the first place.

Please don't put us with the Liberals, again please. Tongue
Lol, I'm NOT saying you should merge or anything (nor am I saying that all NDP voters would vote Liberal over Conservative, or even a new Liberal-NDP merger over Conservative. Nor vice-versa for the Liberals). I'm just saying the Liberals have more to gain from squeezing the NDP vote than from winning over some more relatively centrist conservatives.

Fascinating to see how utterly destroyed the Liberals have been in many of their ancient strongholds and to see the obvious disintergration in others. To think that this process only really started eight or so years ago and only become obvious four years ago... you can't even see where the old Red Belt was let alone still see it...

The Bloc does depend on votes from all over the place (even more than the PQ, interestingly enough) but most of its voters are broadly left-leaning in a more conventional political context. Especially since the Tory breakthrough in 2006.

There was a riding in Vancouver a few elections ago with like 4 Wongs on the ballot.

Work underway on party vote maps.

Are the territories anywhere on that map?

Until recently there used to be a fairly solid (utterly solid until 1984) block of Liberal voting ridings between Sudbury or so and the area around Montreal (though sort-of parts of the Estrie as well, IIRC). Area is a rough match for bilingual populations on both sides of the border. I can't think of a better name for it and ironic references to old voting patterns around Paris are always good...
