Czech Senate Elections

A third of the Czech senate (27 senators) will stand for elections 17 and 18 October, with a runoff to be held 24 and 25 October.

The seats being disputed have the following distribution:
ODS (conservative): 8 seats
ČSSD (social-dem): 6 seats
KDU-ČSL (christian-dem): 3 seats
KSČM (communist): 1 seat
US–DEU (Liberal conservative): 1 seat
SNK-ED (liberal conservative): 1 seat
HNHROM (?): 1 seat
CZ (liberal): 1 seat
Independents: 5 seats

Regional elections are also being held, yesterday and today.

ČSSD is leading 34-29 in national polls, but the KSČM and Greenies are polling well above their 2006 results. The KDU-ČSL is about at its 2006 level.

(Was 41-13 for the ODS before).

Quite some massive losses right there.
