I say yes, I'm sick of hearing McCain's lying attacks.

Oh yeah, instead of mentioning facts, I should just do personal attacks.

I'm glad it's over because Obama was weaker this time around, and at this point McCain would have nowhere to go but up in the polls. This now silences his ability to reach millions of Americans simultaneously with character attacks (because God knows he can't afford commercials Wink)

Yea these debates bored me to tears, despite the media elites cackling about them being a game changer, I think these debates altered the political landscape one iota.

LOL @ the idea that Jesse's troll posts aren't usually personal attacks.

I wish they had done a West Wing style debate and abandoned the rules. And actually engaged in an intelligent discussion instead of the bullsh**t. But then again, the West Wing is basically how America should be, not how it is. So there's no point in reminiscing.

In 1988 the League of Women Voters got out of the debate sponsoring business with this statement:

The League of Women Voters is withdrawing sponsorship of the presidential debates...because the demands of the two campaign organizations would perpetrate a fraud on the American voter. It has become clear to us that the candidates' organizations aim to add debates to their list of campaign-trail charades devoid of substance, spontaneity and answers to tough questions. The League has no intention of becoming an accessory to the hoodwinking of the American public.

I'm glad that the debates are over. But we need to do something to open the debates up. We must reform the debates. Have one debate where candidates on enough ballots to hypothetically win an Electoral College majority debate, the second one only with candidates that have at least 5% of the national vote and the final one with candidates getting at least 15% of the national vote.

Yes, definitely.  If you're an informed voter, you don't really learn anything new from the debates.

No. On the one hand Obama has now offially won all three debates, which is good, and he doesn't need to fear screwing up in a future debate.

BUT, three weeks is a long time and the effects of the debates tend to wear off fairly quickly. Therefore I wouldn't mind a debate a few days before the election, to remind people that Obama really IS the man they should vote for.
