It is my sad duty to report this evening, that my beloved Bullhead Catfish, Theo, passed away of natural causes.

I caught him in a river in a plastic cup when he was a baby catfish less than 1 inch long in the Summer of 2002. I took him home and put him in the tank, where he grew to about a foot long, and lived for the next 6 years. To put in perspective, I was 13 years old when I caught him...I am 20 years old now.

He died today. He looks physically healthy, so it was likely stress of old age.

He looked something like this:

Recommendation. Cornmeal + egg then deep fry him in nuggets.

The thought crossed my mind...but he now has a resting place in the backward woods of nature.

Did you have a big enough tank for such a large fish?

Yes...we had a huge tank he lived in. I'm surprised at how long he lived considering I found him in a trickle outside a river during the hot Summer of '02 and now October 2008 he dies...catfish are tough.

I would normally feel a little bad about laughing at this. Then I realized that Naso never mentioned that he had a pet catfish before and that he didn't mention his passing while leaving me a ridiculous voicemail earlier.

I don't know what's the funniest part of this. The fact that he had a pet catfish? Or maybe it's his comments about him looking so "healthy" and then posting a picture of him? How about the stress of old age?

I think I really like how we're told that he died of natural causes. That's great to know. I'm glad someone didn't break into your house and pump bullets into his scales, Naso.
