I would lose embarrassingly to both of them, heh heh.  Honestly, I disagreed with both of them pretty strongly on trade, but I heard a little bit from the other side, so that's nice.

They both did a great job, hard to nitpick a winner.  Sometimes I skimmed some of their posts since some of them were way too tldr; Tongue

Good job, NDN.  I'd shake your hand, but we're at least hundreds of miles away from each other.

It was pretty much a tie. The guys were both very informed and erudite, but as noted, didn't disagree much. I disagreed actually with much of what both said. They focused a bit too much on process (and the process fixes suggested are not realistic for trade treaties), missing the forest through the trees on trade, perhaps. More interesting might be to discuss when protectionism is justified, ala Krugman or someone else. The gun decision has very little practical effect, since the states are not subject to the second amendment, but again it was of a process discussion, rather than on the substance of policy.

The thing about trade, the bailout (getting sick mortgages off the books quickly, and more smoothly getting the amount of non recourse mortgages down below the FMV of homes, really is very important for example), but heck the financial gurus really don't have a handle on the fix, and what it portends, etc. There is also a danger that politics will intrude in how money is moved around to favored interests even more, which is quite potentially frightening, as a downside legacy.

In any event, great job guys!

due to the narrow margin in the voting and small turnout, let's call this one a tie.

Next up: BRTD vs Gully Foyle.

I didn't vote in time, but would have voted for Mikado in what is an incredibly tough call.
