I don't know of anyone better, but still voted disagree just based on the odds.

Disagree

He was cool and pretty level headed, but I'd definitely give most knowledgable to Torie and most humorous to Duke

Disagree.

My favorite is Torie because -- even when I disagree -- his posts are like high-quality prose.  The man can articulate and as someone who is supposed to do that for a living, I really respect that.

Honorable mentions though to Bullmoose (who posts much too infrequently), GM and Andrew.

Hmm... Gabu and I registered about the same time and it was fun racing him to become YaBB God... I got along well with him...

I wouldn't say greatest though... Great, absolutely. I don't think it's fair to the other great posters to have a "greatest".

Trondheim would probably be the correct answer, though it's impossible to narrow it down to one.

STRONGLY disagree. He was a horrible poster who never contributed anything, no detailed maps, no in-depth demographic analysis, no timelines, no particularly notable insight, nothing. He was also generally clueless about politics (remember his love of Giuliani?) and was a fake liberal.

Opebo is the hands down winner of this prize, though Lewis Trondheim also deserves a mention as Tweed pointed out.

Opebo certainly wins the award as the uber iconoclast. I have some tendencies that way, but I am just not in Opebo's league. He has lapped me as it were in that department.

It is odd however BRTD that you would pick him, since I don't think even he would describe himself as a psephology wonk.

I didn't know what 'psephology' meant until I looked it up, but that has to be one of the coolest descriptors ever. Maybe I can go around calling myself a 'psephology wonk' to impress the ladies or something.

Good luck with that, unless you give the word a new definition, like the "science" of the capacity of a male to listen to female's problems for extended periods of time with empathy and hugs while eschewing suggesting anything concrete as to how to "solve" the same. With that definition, you will have to fight them off, since the male can screw only so much even in his prime. Cheers.

Considering who the most "popular" forum members are, it certainly isn't something to strive for.  BRTD is right about a lot of this, but kind of extreme

He's not, but his wit, unique insight and overall hilarity make up for it. Gabu has none of these. Plus can he tell you an insane amount about obscurish regions (Al)? Do in depth analyses of demographics that most people wouldn't do for a term paper (Lewis)? Do a detailed analysis of polls and events that may sound smarter than it actually is and not always be accurate but better than almost all pundits or the media (SamSpade)? No. What was so great about him?
