Mildly disagree.  He should have a very quiet ex-Presidency and allow himself to fade into obscurity.

Please liberals! Drag us through a war crimes trial of Bush while the economy is floundering! It wouldn't surprise me if Pelosi, Reid and Obama decide this is the most important thing to do, and then blame Bush when nothing else gets done like has happened the past two years.

Disagree since he's not a war criminal. I doubt this forum will actually see that though.

It'd probably be for the best but it'll never happen, obviously.

On legal grounds, I don't think there is any substantial evidence that he was a war criminal. Sure, I dislike the guy, and I think the Iraq War was wrong, but I think the best policy for the country would be to move forward rather than keep our minds shackled to the past.

Yes, but sadly it won't happen. The dirty laundry needs to come out, Nixon being pardoned avoided that Republican generation's dirty laundry, Bush Senior's pardon of the Iran-contra figures ended that generations, and spineless Pelosi will end this generations.

Agree. That said, it's hardly worth debating. Regardless of what you put forth in defense of a trial, the right wing will just call you a crazy radical and not offer anything based in fact that proves to the contrary. All irrelevant considering that Pelosi/Reid lack the fortitude to try something so bold.

Only if he's still allowed to write his memoirs. I'm only really interested in his viewpoint on the 1980, 1992, 2000, 2004, and 2008 elections though.

What facts can YOU present that are relevant enough for a trial?

I doubt perdedor would be the prosecuting attorney.

Congress wouldn't be in charge of that, would they?

Before I answer.....on what grounds would he be prosecuted?  Iraq?  Then you'd have to include everybody that voted yes for it in Congress too wouldn't you?  I'm leaning no here unless somebody can come up with something to get him on.  I don't like the guy, but I'm not seeing any war crimes.

I voted yes, but I'd prefer a thorough investigation into the exact development of intelligence relating to the war in Iraq and who more directly authorized the use of torture at Gitmo (though we already have a fair idea of *that*, which is why I voted yes).

Prosecuted for war crimes? That's......... a bit extreme, isn't it? I voted no.

It's not like I wouldn't vote for a meaningful and thorough investigation to see if he lied to justify the Iraq War, or had a part in fabricating evidence.

No, I think it would be the UN at the Hague.
