We have a ton of things around here called "Ak-Sar-Ben" (Nebraska backwards).  It's stupid.  Every few years the cops have to shoot cows on the side of the road because they got loose from the stockyards or a truck overturned on the interstate.  I sh**t you not.  I've met people that are afraid to go to Omaha because it's "too big".  Even our rivers are flat and boring, though it is cool to drink a beer standing in the middle of a large river.  Way, way to many white people.  Most of the state looks like this

not this

Omaha

We got a cool beach though, to bad it's in France and full of Nazi's

just out of interest....I've heard you say many times that central Illinois is supposedly evil...being so empty and full of corn fields.

My question: does your hatred extend to other similar states? like Indiana....or say...Kansas?

When the time comes that I have to drive or am in a car that goes through those states then they will recieve that status. Since I haven't had to yet they are lucky. Tongue

Except we speak American, not Canadian.  Also, less hockey here.  Other than that, yeah, the exact same.

That was good.  South Park went too.  When they crossed the state line between Colorado and Nebraska the sign said something like "Welcome to Nebraska, Sorry".

I-80 follows the Platte River flood plain, it's very flat.  But if you go 50 miles or so North or South it's all rolling hills.  They get bigger the more north and west you go.

That first picture looks very much like the Diablo Range at Altamont Pass, viewed from the east.

And Saskatchewan is slightly politically saner than Nebraska.

If I ever went to Nebraska, I'd go to Arthur, Wahoo and drive through Cherry and Sarpy Counties.

Corn is always interesting.

Sarpy has less corn every year.  It's slowly turning into Richardson Texas (ie, a giant business park with McMansions filling in the gaps.)  Cherry County is interesting though.  It's bigger than Delaware or Conn. and yet only has 6000 poeple in it.  A lot more cows.  Most of us have probably eaten a cow from Cherry County.

Ben Nelson, Bob Kerrey, Lee Terry and Hagel?  Sure, sometimes the congrescritter from the farming 2/3rds of the state is nuts, but the rest of us aren't nuts.  There are no Barbra Boxers, Trent Lotts or Barney Franks.

None of these beats Tommy Douglas (I think he's the only Dipper I like).

Though Saskatchewan now has a Refoooooooooooorm government.
