*Senator Nation walks into a small crowd of supporters and press

members near his apartment in Nyman, DC*

Ladies and Gentleman of Atlasia -- voters of District 1 -- and members

of the press. I come to you tonight with a simple announcement -- a

brief one, but of great importance nonetheless.

I have debated and contemplated this for a long time -- I've gone back

and forth on my decision, but tonight is the final one. I WILL be

seeking the United Atlas Centrist nomination for President of Atlasia.

I will not tone down my beliefs in order to become more electable. I

will not back down from what I believe -- and I will not let anyone

call a moderate, or a centrist, or anyone like that, a spineless

individual or a participator of non-ideological centrism that prefers

rhetoric to hard policy, as Senator Migrendel so rudely observed.

But he's far from accurate in his judgements. My campaign will be

based on exactly what I believe is best for the forum:

A return to strong morals and ethics for Atlasia!

A REAL use for faith-based initiatives! This is a focal point for my

campaign, because I am a strong believer in helping the poor, doing

everything you can to assist those less fortunate than you. And in my

life, there is no greater benefactor to these beliefs than churches --

some of the most amazing and inspiring people I've ever met were from

different churches -- people from all walks of life.

My campaign will also focus on education, and real changes within the

system. Vouchers solve SHORT-term problems, while constantly throwing

money doesn't solve ANYTHING. I will make an effort to expand the use

of private corporations in assisting city and state governments to

take over and improve failing schools. I will also allow for more

local control within school districts, as the federal government has

constantly shown (and not just with NCLB) that they cannot handle

education.

This campaign will showcase a return to the Truman-Kennedy style of foreign policy -- a STRONG national defense, one evident by the fine job that Sec. of Defense John D Ford has done for this great nation.

This is only a small portion of what I hope to bring to the Presidency if I receive the UAC nomination. I will not seek the endorsement of other parties, as their nominee is not my business. The UAC is my home, and I will run under their banner if I win the nomination.

I wish my opponent, Mr. Hobbes the best of luck, as well as any future opponents I may have in this race.

Thank you, God bless, and good night.

I have worked closely with Senator Nation and know he will be a fine candidate.  I wish him the best of luck.

The race heats up.  Best luck Senator! A New Yorker in the Atlasian White House would be a fine thing indeed.

One has to wonder about this, after the Senator made this announcement just a few weeks ago:

*Senator Kevin Nation in an announcement on the steps of the Capitol in Nym, DC:*

Ladies and gentleman of the press, fellow senators, and most importantly, the voters of District 1 -- I speak to you today to inform you that I will not be seeking re-election to the First District of Atlasia, and will serve out my remaining term as best as possible.

This decision is a personal one, and for personal reasons only. As of late, I no longer feel I will be able to provide adequate representation of this district's fine voters.

I believe I have let go of one of the main reasons I ran for the senate as a candidate of the United Atlas Centrists -- less government. Instead, I have sat idly by while I failed to do anything about the rapid INCREASE of government.

I have returned from actively pursuing a chance at the UAC nomination for the Presidency to being undecided -- I may or may not seek a run in the executive branch of the Atlasia government. Future announcements regarding this matter are imminent, don't you worry.

Finally, let me just say thank you to all those who voted for me --- first, second, or last prefrence. From the shores of Lake Erie in my home of Buffalo, to the streets of Maryland where I grew up.

It's true I am a busy man, Fritz -- in my personal life. But I have made enough time each day to visit the forums, post what I feel I need to post --- I would be able to provide leadership for the forum, I guarantee it.

Plus, my schedule changes rapidly in college. A few weeks ago, I was expecting to be extremely busy, with almost no online time, but circumstances change.

Call me a flip-flopper if you wish Cheesy.

Yes, you're right, Akno. The primary reason behind my endorsement of Harry was the good work he has done in the Senate recently.

If you don't mind, I'd like to make another rude observation. That comment was about Hughento, not you. But at least Hughento has the common sense to not vote on the side of those bigots who try to cloak their espousal of animus in the name of "traditional marriage". You gave the voters more than a whiff of how you really feel on equal rights.
