It's crazy here. My mom went to vote early today and they said it was a 4 hour wait. In Whitfield County (pop. 95,000) we only have one early voting location, but that's still crazy, considering this country historically has had a really low turnout in elections. I can't imagine how bad it is in some parts of Atlanta.

It really is a shame...

Maybe Obama, when he gets in office, will hear of all the problems that occur across the nation this year and invoke legislation to correct these problems for 2012.  With a democratic house and senate, I dont see why it couldnt get done especially considering most voter suppression is headed by the GOP.

It is going to be a mad house in Pennsylvania, I guarantee.
2004 was as quick as any election.  Ditto for 2006 and 2007 (hey there is an election EVERY year...gotta vote).
But voting in the primary was another story.  I waited, uncharacteristically for about 15 minutes or so.  Yes, 15 minutes is not long compared to what these stories are reporting, but 15 minutes where I vote is a long time.

Now, I voted by absentee ballot this year, but I would love to see the hoopla at the polling station this year.

Wait...Obama is going to make voting lines disappear?

You guys don't know how funny you have become.

These lines really are an insult to our process. The waits for early voting here are "only" an hour, but I still think that's absurd. I'm annoyed that the city of Memphis has 10 referenda on the ballot, which slows voters down considerably.

Whitfield is northern Georgia, right?  Not many blacks, strong Hispanic minority.

Yeah, my parents are going to vote tomorrow so the long waiting period doesn't interfere with the family business.

I like waiting in line to vote. It's always been a pleasant part of the election day experience.

Yes, not a lot of blacks, and about 20% *documented* Hispanic. Ninety percent of the world's carpet's made here, so many Hispanics come from Latin America to work here. Dalton (county seat) is about 50% Hispanic.

Voter Registration Stats:

Total: 38,976

White: 33,107 (84.94%)
Hispanic: 2,603 (6.68%)
Black: 1,675 (4.29%)
Other: 1,350 (3.46%)
Asian: 239 (0.61%)
Native American: 2

Ideally, all voting would be 100% mail-in.
