Same old, same old...but it does help remind his supporters why they like him.

I think adding random people he's met over the past year or so was a good idea. I like it so far. I don't think its going to sway anyone though Tongue

Yeah, i guess about 50% of the country hates Obama with a passion.

Aren't we a great country.

Iam not voting for Obama, but i think the 30 min ad is pretty good.  Nothing major though.

It's more of the "Obama cares" message.  I don't think he wins on being a "good fellow" as my gf is calling him as we watch.

Bill Clinton practically did the same with "I feel your pain" or something along those lines. I think it helps.

but nothing dramatic.

I think this will stop any momentum that McCain might have and Obama will be up by 6-7 in the trackers by Saturday.  By Tuesday McCain will claw back to 3-4 down.

This is exactly what I wanted to see.  It's boring for folks like us, its not concrete, it's there to give us a 2 point bounce.  No pie charts.  I really thought it was good, campaign informercials arent out there to be original.

I thought it was pretty damn good...  I like the infusion of real people and real stories.  In the current economic conditions, people soak that stuff up.

though I voted no, I ended up watching it. It was good, but he really didn't say anything he hasn't said already. I guess it could sway some undecideds or maybe convince some soft McCain leaners that he's not scary, leading them to stay home.

I think the biggest effect this will have is run up his numbers in the non swing states, which will give him a larger PV margin. it can therefore give him a small bump in the polls.

The production values were good and that cut to a live shot was pretty impressive. Getting that right and getting the timing right is not easy.

ok CONSPIRACY:

the networks are paying the trackers to show the gap narrowing, then widen again after the infomercial so that every 4 years the campaigns will shell out dough to them for the same kind of treatment.

case closed.

It was a little sappy, but very good overall. It touches on all the major issues and put real faces on these issues.

Did Perot get hurt from his infomercials?

Or is it just candidates that y'all disagree with that get "backlash" from every single possible action they could take?

Did Perot's infomercial delay the resumption of a potentially decisive World Series game?

No, but NEITHER WILL OBAMA.

Yes, Obama's infomercial will delay the start of the game.   When the ad was bought, Game 6 was supposed to be played today.  It was scheduled to start at 8:20.  Baseball Commissioner Bud Selig agreed to move the start to 8:35.

Well, FOX Broadcasting declared that the game was planned for 8:30 and it just interfered with the pregame.

So, was there a massive backlash because McCain's convention speech delayed the start of the fist NFL game 15 minutes?

The rest of America hasn't even seen it yet.  I had class until 5:30 so I have to wait until 8.

There's a 10 minute thing that looks like it on Obama's website, what's the rest of it?  I understood it cut away to a live rally in Florida but that doesn't seem like enough.

that would be hilarious. I had my own theory that the trackers were narrowing because the media needs a close election.

Responds McCain spokesman Tucker Bounds: "As anyone who has bought anything from an infomercial knows, the sales-job is always better than the product. Buyer beware."
