I like him.  He's a much better man than the campaign he's waged, of course, but such things are generally the case when you get involved in this dirty, dirty business.

I liked him until the whole Bill Ayers robocalls.  Now I have no respect for him.  What ever happened to a hot place in hell reserved for robocall bs?  Had it not been for that I would say highly respect, in fact I was going to make a thread were I was going to say that despite the hard campaign I liked the guy.

It probably would have been neutral or barely negative a couple years ago but he has whored himself like no other in this campaign. Plus he still supports the Iraq War and believes it was justified... and then there's his selection of Palin. So very negative it is.

Very Negative. A two or three years ago i may have said differently though. He's come across as very arrogant and condescending, engaged in some of the biggest gimmicks I've seen in recent American politics, and his "Country First" slogan always irritates me because his slogan is so obviously "Elections First" because he's done everything to demonstration he'll sling whatever crap he can get his hands on to win.

His temper also scares the hell out of me if he should win.

I really liked McCain in 2000, I lost a lot of respect for him as a politician when he attached himself to Bush and his agenda.

I feel quite sorry for him, he was lumped with a horrible year for Republicans. I don't think McCain cares about social policy, I personally think he's a pragmatic old-school libertarian western Republican. However, he had a chance to really set himself aside, but by picking Palin he lowered himself to nothing more than the typcial Republican - appealing to the lowest common-denomenator by campaigning to voters who exist on ignorance, bigotry and fear.

Overall - negative.

Very Positive

As I have said several times before, I have come to really like this man. I'll be very disappointed if the country passes on the opportunity to have this man as Commander in Chief.

Unfortunately for your future temperament, there's more to the presidency than commander-in-chief responsibilities.

Roll Eyes

I wasn't trying to say that it was just about being Commander in Chief of the armed forces, genius. I was just using the title in general.

I was merely pointing out that if the race were decided solely on such issues, your candidate likely would win, but because it is not, you are likely to be disappointed.

Genius. Tongue

Oh, and very negative - the non-stop whining about Obama rather than coming up with any ideas of his own.  But it was his Palin joke that erased any remaining  respect I had for him (as a politician and a candidate), for it indicated to me that he sees all of this as a game and is ultimately a cynic with regard to the presidency.  While in 2000, I would have answered very positive.  Funny how people change.

I would said neutral a few months ago but after Palin my opinion of him has plummeted. From that it's just been a spiraling descent of rashness and a campaign that prefers to attack the opponent rather than offering any of their own plans and/or solutions. Still, I voted negative, because I get the sense that he's not entirely comfortable with running his abhorrent campaign - his strategists are.

Because he supports the Iraq War?  Would you use the same words to describe the many Democrats who voted for it too?

How do you define "war criminal?"  I could see Bush perhaps being declared one, but a lowly senator?  Isn't that an extreme of an extreme?  Or did he do something criminal in Vietnam?
