I really liked McCain in 2000, I lost a lot of respect for him as a politician when he attached himself to Bush and his agenda.

I feel quite sorry for him, he was lumped with a horrible year for Republicans. I don't think McCain cares about social policy, I personally think he's a pragmatic old-school libertarian western Republican. However, he had a chance to really set himself aside, but by picking Palin he lowered himself to nothing more than the typcial Republican - appealing to the lowest common-denomenator by campaigning to voters who exist on ignorance, bigotry and fear.

Overall - negative.

Neutral. I'm essentially ambivalent, he's a non-issue in this election.

Very Positive

As I have said several times before, I have come to really like this man. I'll be very disappointed if the country passes on the opportunity to have this man as Commander in Chief.

The country passed on him in 2000.  Well, actually it was the GOP which passed on him in favor of the drunk, semi-retarded George W Bush.

A murderer and a war criminal. Disgusting excuse for a human being.

Because he supports the Iraq War?  Would you use the same words to describe the many Democrats who voted for it too?

How do you define "war criminal?"  I could see Bush perhaps being declared one, but a lowly senator?  Isn't that an extreme of an extreme?  Or did he do something criminal in Vietnam?

Anyone who fights communists is probably a "war criminal" to him. If you want to be a "freedom fighter", you have to work on your tan and practice giving eloquent but hollow speeches.

John McCain's disgraceful campaign has revealed his true lack of character.

As a man?  Honorable, courageous and inspirational.  One of my heroes.

As a candidate?  Incapable and lacking in judgment when it comes to getting his message out.

As a potential President?  Frightful.  Unless he would govern from the center and remain very, very healthy for eight years.

I've never been much of a McCain fan, mainly because I've always saw through his "maverick" image and understood what he really is: a rank and file Republican. However, regardless of what I thought about the man's politics, I always respected his character and him as a man in general. Today? I can't see him for much more than what he revealed himself to be: Yet another outlet for Roveian garbage and character defamation. The word I would use to describe McCain today? Filth. Just filth.
