I'm surprised that white economic fear trumped their racism for once

Yes, fellow  psephology fans, Opebo has been posting non stop each day, every day, that Obama is toast because white racism is just too entrenched. Now, suppose Opebo is wrong in his prediction, meaning that Obama wins the presidency by 4%, and those racists places, like PA and VA, and maybe FL and OH and NC, and the Bradley undecided's are closet McCain racist voters proves minimal?  What will Opebo post after the votes are counted?

Your choice. Go!  Tongue

I was just going to point out how opebo is never attacked for his predictions in McCain's favor but people like myself and J.J. are harassed because we think that there is a chance of a McCain comebakc (but are predicting an Obama win).

I'm just a very pessimistic guy.  I mean, my pessimism knows no bounds.

Me too.

I'd still be pessimistic about Obama's chances, except that McCain and/or his advisors have been so immensely helpful.  The "he's a rich, elite, celebrity, Muslim, messiah, inexperienced, America-hating, socialist, redistributionist, non-plumber" message has been too jumbled for anyone to make sense of.

I really think the lack of one or two consistent messages about Obama has done almost irreparable damage.

I do hear what you are saying about American racism, Opie.  I think it's real and palpable.  But even from limousine liberals with their closet bigotry or right wing hillbillies, I suspect there is a "We're votin' for the n*gger" factor at work.

Almost all my Ohio relations are voting McCain...most for racist reasons.  But one of them has switched. Her comment?  "Sometimes, when one of those people feels they have something to prove, they over-acheive."

Number three is the most consistant with his previous postings, but nobody really knows. He could even return to his old right wing ways and claim Obama will never succeed because of his brown skin.

I think most Democrats are. Although sometimes I pretend not to be around conservatives.

Dude, I was never racist, even when I was a fascist!

Dude, when you're living as close to the bone as I you can't afford to be out of touch with reality.  Pessimism is just a realistic analysis when it comes to american politics.

But you already are out of touch with reality because of your pessimism (that is the whole point of this thread right?).

The fly in the ointment is that I am, as usual, correct.

I was speaking of the case currently under discussion, deadman - the 2008 presidential election.  As for other cases I did say 'as usual', not 'as always'.

I had been assuming a late surge by McCain combined with closet racists deciding at the last minute they can't vote for a brother for a long time now, but it's looking more and more like an Obama win everyday.
