Do area businesses, etc. fly the flag of the neighboring country?

You see the Canadian flag all over the place here flying with the American and Minnesota flags.  On the Indian reservations you often see the Canadian, American, and then Band flag flying.

Do places in the southwest fly the Mexican flag?

Europeans, you can weigh in as well.. though flag flying seems to be much less prevalent in Europe than here in North America.

Also, many businesses here will accept Canadian money despite being 90 miles from the border.

It's fairly limited to hotels in this particular area.

Though according to Sarah Palin there are lots of Russian flags where she's from.

Not really. I of course see more than down south, but it is not too common. Quite a few places here accept canadian currency though.

I live about 450 miles away from the Southern Border, so I don't actually count for the purposes of this, but I would like to mention that I see a hugely disproportionate number of Brazilian flags.

I see a lot Mexican flags in the Hispanic area of town and I'm nowhere near that border.  I never see Canadian flags.

No.
I can't think of any local businesses in my home area that fly the British flag. But that said, the Irish flag wouldn't be commonly spotted either. We're not big into national flag waving - much more common would be flags in the colours of local sports teams in the run up to big competitions. As to currency, sterling is fairly readily useable.

From here in Dublin, I'd say there's more but still not many flags around. I'll keep an eye out for the next few days and consider this some more - maybe I've just not been noticing.
(You would though get it much harder to spend Sterling here.)

Now on the other side of the border, the flag thing can be a bit... different.
You could get by with euro in most places in reasonable proximity to the border.

Some shops in Anglesey take euros.

Just hotels, and of course the embassy. Maybe the odd store.

I see the Canadian flag on the duty-free shop near where I work, and by the bridge near where I live.
